Ronald McDonald House Charities Bay Area (RMHC Bay Area) envisions a world where all children have access to health care and their families are fully supported and actively involved in their care.
RMHC Bay Area supports more than 4,000 children and their families annually through three Ronald McDonald Houses, two Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles, a Ronald McDonald House School, as well as regional food insecurity programs, alternative housing support, psycho-social and respite programs and specialized programming delivered on site inside area pediatric hospitals.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Our Finance team is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to help ensure the organization’s resources are managed efficiently and effectively.
Reporting to the Controller, this position requires a professional, highly skilled, organized, problem solver who can effectively interact and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Providing a comfortable, supportive community for parents and children in times of crisis is central to our mission.
Preferred candidates will have an attention to detail and strong organizational skills coupled with a customer service focus and the ability to maintain data confidentiality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Third party Billing /Receivables
Oversee the organization’s third-party billing and receivable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of claim authorizations and the timely processing of invoices and receipts.
Monitor and reconcile authorizations and submitted invoices, investigate, and resolve any discrepancies.
Work effectively with third party payers to maximize claim authorizations.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate documentation and information for claim authorizations.
Maintain atmosphere of respect and confidentiality for patients and families.
Cash Receipts and Disbursements
Process bank deposits and post cash receipts to the general ledger in a timely and accurate manner.
Review all cash and bank postings to ensure accuracy and compliance with fundraising guidelines.
Process accounts payable vendor invoices according to RMHC Bay Area’s policies and procedures.
Manage vendor relationships, resolve billing issues, and prepare annual filing of 1099’s.
Monitor credit card expenses across the organization and assist with timely collection of receipts and coding.
General Accounting
Maintain internal controls and safeguards for revenue receipts, expenditures, and financial records.
Collaborate with the finance team to develop and implement efficient accounting processes and procedures.
Assist with preparation for external audits.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PREREQUISITES
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance.
Prior Work Experience:
At least three years of general ledger accounting experience required.
Interest in and/or understanding of the nonprofit community.
Technical Knowledge Required:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and understanding of management accounting methods.
Comfort with technology; experience working with various computer and financial programs and platforms.
Excellent Excel skills.
