The Hoover Institution Library & Archives at Stanford University is seeking qualified candidates for the on-site position of Engagement Assistant.

_ *Job Purpose:* Join our dynamic museum team as an Engagement Assistant, where you will be at the forefront of our engagement program activities, assisting in the execution of our events, exhibitions, welcoming visitors into our exhibition galleries, and creating captivating content to promote our collections and events.
This position is perfect for individuals with a passion for sharing history with the public.
Ideal candidates will have experience working in a library, archives, or museum setting; recent customer service experience; experience with a variety of social media platforms; and/or be currently or recently enrolled in a graduate program in archival studies, library sciences, museum studies, history, or a related field.
Engagement Assistants must commit to work at least 35-40 hours per pay period between 9:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Sunday.
You may be asked to work additional shifts depending on staffing needs, with 24 hours’ notice.
*Core Duties:* Exhibition Planning and Assistance: * Collaborate with the engagement team to assist in the preparation and coordination of exhibitions.
* Contribute to the organization of exhibition materials.
* Assist in the installation and de-installation of exhibitions.
* Events Support: * Assist in the planning and execution of educational programs, classes, workshops, and events.
* Participate in guided tours, lectures, and workshops.
Administrative Support: * Help with general administrative tasks, including record-keeping, calendar management, and inventory management.
* Other duties as assigned.
Gallery Attendant Duties: * Welcome visitors to the exhibition galleries located in the Hoover Tower and ensure a positive and informative visitor experience.
* Monitor gallery spaces to ensure the safety and security of collection material and visitors.
* Answer visitor questions, give tours of the exhibitions, enforce museum policies, and address concerns.
* Manage and maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the gallery, including any interactive or multimedia components.
Digital Content Creation: * Create engaging social media content to promote exhibitions, events, and collections.
* Monitor social media channels, engage with the online community, and provide insights to enhance online presence.
*Required Qualifications & Physical Requirements:* * Passion for sharing history with the public.
* Excellent public speaking skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
* Proficiency in using social media platforms for promotional purposes.
* Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
* Highly organized and detail-oriented with an aptitude for multitasking.
* Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies.
* Punctual and effective at meeting deadlines.
* Ability to act with initiative, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.
* Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
* Frequently twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasps lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and sort/file paperwork or parts, reach/work above shoulders, and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
* Ability to lift 40-pound boxes and to push and maneuver fully loaded book trucks (push force up to 50 pounds).
*Preferred Qualifications:* * Experience working in a library, archives, or museum; recent customer service experience; and/or be currently or recently enrolled in a graduate program in archival studies, library sciences, museum studies, history, or a related field.
* Knowledge of and/or interest in 20th and 21st century history and current events.
* Reading knowledge of a foreign language, preferably German, Russian, Polish, Chinese, French, Spanish, Japanese, or Arabic.
The expected pay range for this position is $25.
00 to $37.
00 per hour, dependent on experience.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
