About the opportunity:
SWCA Environmental Consulting & Engineering, Inc.
is currently seeking a Senior Ecosystem Restoration Engineer with a passion for river restoration and geomorphology.
We are looking for an experienced engineer who can contribute to the growth of our ecological restoration practice in Northern California, as well as support SWCA’s ecological restoration projects throughout the U.
S.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in stream, wetland, and tidal marsh restoration and coastal/living shoreline design projects, and will be capable of teaching applied hydraulics, hydrology, and geomorphology to others.
This position will be based in Northern California.
Projects will include sites throughout the west including California, the Pacific Northwest, the Rocky Mountains, and support other project sites across the country.
The position will entail travel on occasion to assess project sites, collect field data, and meet with clients.
What you will accomplish:
In this role, you will be expected to:
Conduct the design, reporting, and development of construction plans for restoration of rivers, wetlands, and tidal marshes and supervise work performed by others
Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously, keeping projects on schedule and within budget
Manage and perform water resources assessments and analysis including: watershed hydrology, open-channel hydraulics, river and floodplain modelling, and stormwater management
Supervise field work to assess existing site conditions, assess reference reach sites, and perform geomorphic surveys
Conduct engineering analyses to support the development of restoration designs and provide senior review of analyses performed by others
Write clear and concise technical documentation of engineering analyses, and provide senior revie of documentation developed by others
Represent SWCA and continue your professional development at industry conferences
Work independently in a fast-paced environment; work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Mentor staff engineers in natural channel design within the AutoDesk Civil 3D platform
Experience and qualifications for success:
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree preferred
PE certification with a minimum 10 years’ post-Bachelor’s experience
Demonstrated success in ecosystem restoration project design and implementation
Experience with HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS required
Experience developing stream restoration/natural channel design construction plans in the AutoCad Civil 3D environment required

An employee in this Half Moon Bay, California- based position can expect an annual salary of $134,784.
00/year to $172,224.

Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.
