is seeking a Technical Editor to join our team in Palo Alto, CA.
You will be partnering with service, quality and design engineers as your subject matter experts and work collaboratively with diagnostic, training and technical operation teams to develop consistent diagnostic content for global technicians and the larger-scale, global service network.

What You’ll Do
Partner with engineering teams to gather technical information for creating and updating diagnostic information (such as knowledge base articles, expected vehicle operation and alert metadata) for use by global technicians
Create, edit and maintain customer-facing text that supplements the basic user texts available for alerts and provides troubleshooting suggestions
Collaborate with diagnostic software engineers to develop and test improvements to the usability of diagnostic content management tools/systems
Perform a routing and review process for diagnostic documentation to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to a style guide and organization standards
Improve editorial and visual standards for diagnostic documentation and recommend innovative designs, layouts and formatting as needed
Manage tasks and information flow using collaboration software (such as JIRA, SharePoint and custom databases)
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in English, Rhetoric & Composition, Professional/Technical Writing, proof of exceptional skills in related fields, or equivalent
1-3 years working experience in related field
Ability to edit and create documentation that is accurate, complete, clear, specific, and as concise as possible
Ability to explain technical concepts to peers, people from various parts of the organization, non-technical people, and third-party consumers
Can extract and comprehend system operation from typical engineering documentation from both a software and mechanical perspective (e.
g.
, schematics and subsystem specification documents)
Excellent analytical, attention-to-detail, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task and evaluate priorities
Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience with HTML, XML, DITA, Markdown, Git, SQL, and/or Python is a plus
Previous work experience with vehicle diagnostics, specific vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting manuals is a plus
