Job Summary
The Guest Service Associate (GSA) reports to the Family Services Manager and oversees internal House operations while on shift.
The GSA is responsible for maintaining a supportive, safe, and secure environment, directing the work of volunteers, and assuring that services and programs are provided in a manner consistent with current policies and procedures.
GSA should feel comfortable interacting with families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds within a semi-medical environment.
GSAs are required to work some holidays and weekends.
There is a high need for Spanish speaking candidates.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations:
Connect with outgoing/incoming staff at the beginning and end of each shift to relay important information
Maintain a safe and secure communal living environment for families
Perform walk-throughs of entire House to ensure tidiness and safety
Log all maintenance issues observed during daily walk-through or requested by families
Carry duty cell phone to ensure availability for families and emergencies.
Receive, log, and distribute all family and staff packages and mail
Support with maintaining a clean main lobby, kitchen, seating, and dining areas
Load, unload, and run family kitchen dishwashers
Prepare, put out and clean up breakfast
Stock and distribution resources including trash bags, laundry soap, diapers, toiletries, and other items to the laundry room and respective storages
Restock and monitor soda and water machines
Thoroughly disinfect fridges, freezers, cots, cribs, breast pumps, strollers, wheelchairs, and other items prior to putting them away
Monitor inventory of household items, and cleaning supplies
Family Care:
Respond to all family questions and emergency situations
Support Family Care Manager with check-ins, check-outs, and welcome folders/bags for incoming families
Ensure all families and staff members are health screened daily and wear a face mask.
Complete family requests and deliveries as reported in work order system, including fridges, freezers, cribs, cots, breast pumps, and other items to support families’ needs
Address and replace lost room guest keys and access cards
QUALIFICATIONS AND PREREQUISITES EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma
1 year of customer experience or in a related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Office and customer service experience
Good problem-solving and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Able to handle difficult situations with confidence and compassion
Strong communication skills
Interest in working with families and children
Experience working with diverse populations
Spanish-speakers strongly encouraged to apply
Computer literate in MS Office suite of products
Ability to work in a semi-medical environment with children being treated with life-threatening illnesses and their families
OTHER:
Certified in Adult & Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED (or ability to get certified)
Valid CA driver’s license
Must be able to lift 25 pounds
Must be fully vaccinated (Including booster, if eligible)
