Find a good ,independent tech, mechanic.
NEVER E V E R OVERHEAT the car.
Watch that temperature gauge, make a mental note of where it “runs”, normal running, when it (the thermostat) opens etc
And IF you get ANY “Check Engine”, warning light or that temp starts climbing, PULL OVER, STOP , park and get it towed to your shop or a dealer.
DO NOT try and drive it to where you need to be, Unless you have thousands you want to spend on a new engine or related repair$$$!
The best “ insurance”
is a AAA roadside membership “tow” card.

Warm it up for at least 5 minutes before you move first thing in the day , 10 if it sits outside.
Check your tire pressures cold every week or two.
Use the heater on hot once a well for 15 minutes.
Only use Chevron,Union 76 Or Mobil fuel.
Put a half bottle of Redline Complete Fuel System Cleaner in every 6 months.
Use ONLY semi synthetic or regular grade oil.
Never full synthetic.
Use Kendall, Swepco , NAPA , Valvoline, Torco.
Use a OEM factory or NAPA GOLD oil filter.
Never use Pennzoil, Castrol , Shell , Chevron .
Never use a FRAM, or any of these KMart parts store style oil filters.
NEVER GO TO THOSE OIL CHANGER corner butcher shops.
Change it EVERY 3000 to 3500.
Change ,flush all other systems fluids - coolant, brake and drive train fluids yearly or every 20K miles.
Or at the very least ,every 2 years,especially the brake fluid.
Use only DOT 3 or 3 ,4.
Install only a new OEM factory or NAPA top shelf thermostat every 2 years.
Do not EVER buy Interstate or AAA batteries.
Buy any battery made by Eastern Penn, NAPA sells them.
Inspect your brakes every 20k miles.
