SUMMARY Rakuten’s summer intern program is a 2-month summer experience that will provide you with an opportunity to gain exposure to different areas of law in an in-house environment and gain in-depth knowledge about Rakuten’s business and culture.
You will enjoy meeting with organizational leaders during lunch and learns, network with your fellow intern colleagues at various social events, and present your hard work to Rakuten’s executives and management.
You will be exposed to our culture and values as we develop your basic understanding and foundation for future growth and responsibility.
During the summer you will develop an understanding of what it takes to run a medium size legal organization from inside a corporation.
In particular, this intern will work with the legal unit that supports the Rakuten Advertising business.
Rakuten Advertising is a global leader in affiliate advertising and marketing, connecting top advertising brands in a variety of industries, including retail, banking, and travel, with key publisher partners, including Influencers, to help promote them.
Rakuten Advertising provides the platform and the services to optimize the brands’ advertising and marketing efforts to be efficient and seamless.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Support on legal matters for the Rakuten Advertising division Work across regions, including Brazil, North America, EMEA, and the UK Support commercial sales team with questions regarding contract interpretation, contract drafting, and contract negotiations for a variety of agreement types, including vendor, licensing, intercompany, and data protection Create templates of various agreements Perform substantive legal research relating to emerging legal and regulatory issues, with a focus on advertising technology issues Review and evaluate company policies Assisting with special projects and initiatives (e.

law school Able to complete a 6-8 week internship beginning in May or June 2024 Strong interest in contract drafting, advertising technology, and privacy Possess strong research and writing skills, preferably with knowledge of legal research and writing Involvement in your law school outside of required activities (e.

, moot court, independent research with a professor, clubs, clinics, pro-bono volunteer, etc.
) At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the hourly rate for this role will be between $40- $50 per hour.
Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location.
