*Position Overview*
CuriOdyssey is seeking Camp Directors to inspire love for science and curiosity about the world for Camp CuriOdyssey campers this summer.
Camp CuriOdyssey is supported by a team of Directors, Leaders, Inclusion Assistant, and Leaders-in-Training, reporting to the Associate Director of Education.
Camp CuriOdyssey’s STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art/animals and math) focus is reflected in a robust curriculum developed around the following Camp themes: _Gadgets and Gizmos (Director role filled), Art Inventors, Junior Keepers, Nature Quest_, _Museum Medley, and Ocean Adventure (Director role filled)_.
Camp Directors, in collaboration with Camp Leaders and volunteers, will deliver a robust curriculum for our TK/Kindergarten to 4 grade campers, supervise and develop teen volunteer “Leaders in Training” and ensure that the camp environment is engaging, fun, and safe.
Directors serve as the lead staff for each camp theme.
For the summer of 2024 we are seeking 4 positions to direct the Camp themes referenced above (descriptions can be found ).
*Primary Responsibilities* * Direct the Camp curriculum and activities for a specific Camp theme in collaboration with Camp Leaders and other support staff/volunteers.
* Manage workflow and activity schedule for the camp theme, including supporting the growth and development of Camp Leaders and Leaders-in-Training.
* Collaborate with Inclusion Assistant to support campers with needs and accommodations.
Adapt camp content, in alignment with CuriOdyssey’s approach, and to meet campers’ diverse learning styles.
* Supervise and guide camp team (Leaders and/or Leaders in Training), ensuring that campers have a safe and fun learning environment * Proactively communicate with a camper’s caregiver/guardian about the exciting camp activities, the camper’s involvement in camp, and/or camp’s policies and procedures.
* Support program evaluation efforts.
* Provide support to other camps.
*Desired Qualities* * Leadership role in a camp setting or multi-season experience as a camp leader/staff member.
* Commitment to the mission of CuriOdyssey and science/environmental education.
* Creative, curious, and compassionate approach to facilitating positive learning experiences for children.
* Respect for children as both learners and holders of knowledge, recognition that learning is a process not a product, commitment to positive behavior management, and ensuring the learning process is engaging, fun, and driven by the individual camper.
* Experience and expertise working with youth and a basic understanding of life, earth and/or physical science.
* Ability to maintain a growth mindset and positive attitude when navigating new or challenging experiences * Required: must be 18 years or older and complete and clear a background check.
* Required: must currently have or be willing to get a CPR/First Aid Certification.
*Physical Demands and Working Conditions* The physical demands herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

: Work is conducted at CuriOdyssey and immediately local space at Coyote Point.
Camp will take place indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
: Physical ability and endurance to occasionally carry and lift heavy materials, up to 50 pounds.
Frequently move from a sitting to standing position.
Traversing uneven surfaces, bending, reaching, sitting on the floor with children and twisting are daily repetitive physical actions.
*Compensation and Benefits* * Pay Rate: $22.
00/hour * This is a non-exempt seasonal position, full-time starting June 3 through August 16.
Please note that there are two unpaid holidays, July 4-5.
Note: there is limited flexibility to accommodate time off requests, and only emergency-related time off will be considered.
* The general work schedule for camp training and camp 8.
0 hours/shift, Mon.
– Fri.
