Maxar is currently seeking a Lead Thermal Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, CA.
In this key role, you will help guide new programs which will enable timely design and manufacture of satellite systems.
In addition, you will lead the Thermal project or program team in research, design, development, analysis and evaluation of mechanical components, systems and packages for space or ground systems.
Responsibilities:
Lead thermal project or program team in determining design requirements, generating engineering plans and documentation.
Lead thermal project or program team in system and/or component analysis and tests.
May initiate engineering changes.
Lead thermal project or program team in specialized research or engineering studies.
Project manage thermal efforts for project or program.
Prepare detailed technical reports on work performed.
Lead thermal effort and other related problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors such as cost, quality, reliability, manufacturability, impact to schedule, and process improvement.
Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Provide functional guidance to less experienced technical personnel.
May assist cost account manager with developing project budgets and managing project costs.
May assist in technical writing or review of proposals.
Cross functional collaboration through coordination of internal and external teams.
Use and continually develop leadership skills.
Special projects and other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a U.
S.
citizen or permanent resident
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related discipline.
Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
A Master's degree may count for 2 years of experience.
Understanding of mathematics, physics, and chemistry as they relate to mechanical components and systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with thermal analysis software such as Thermal Desktop or similar.
Willing and able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance with CI Polygraph.
Proficiency in the use of computer aided design tools such as Creo and AutoCAD
University coursework in heat transfer
Experience leading project teams
Experience with thermal testing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility.
Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience.
The range for this position is:
$113,000.
00 - $188,000.
00 annually.
