Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide.
Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
The Fire Protection Engineer will act as a supplement of the existing federal staff to ensure timely completion of authorized work for the 183 schools under the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) and BIE facilities around the country.
This position will serve as a technical consultant and authoritative expert with a broad range of structural fire protection systems that require specialized fire protection approaches.
This is a two-year project and has already been awarded to Planate.
Salary: $100-$120k/year (range varies depending on experience and qualifications).
Key responsibilities: Provide authoritative viewpoints on methods, techniques and procedures required within Indian affairs to effectively implement a comprehensive structural fire protection program Support the development of BIE technical and programmatic guidelines and methodologies to implement structural fire protection programs and activities Identify, review and recommend solutions to problems of a major and controversial nature relating to the efficient and economical design of a wide variety of fire protection systems throughout Indian Affairs Conduct technical review of building construction design development documents, preliminary construction documents, completed construction documents, final construction documents, specifications and shop design submittals for new construction and major rehabilitation for compliance with Indian Affairs’ codes, policy and mandated standards Conduct fire safety inspections of contract construction and recommend contract modifications that meet safety standards to minimize risks to human life and property damage Supervise special investigations of serious accidents, provide written reports and accident analysis Recommend methods of alleviating unsatisfactory or unsafe conditions Study and evaluate proposed projects, work locations, equipment and operations, methods of safety and health training and protective equipment devices Support periodic technical training on various safety-related topics including but not limited to safety codes and standards Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as needed Qualifications to be successful in the role: Must be a licensed Professional Engineer Extensive knowledge and experience with the principles, techniques and practices of structural fire protection to provide full range of duties and responsibilities involved in inspection of school Able to provide technical assistance to schools and guide in addressing deficiencies Comprehensive knowledge of site planning, building design and construction means, methods and codes Experienced in scheduling, material and labor cost estimating Able to evaluate general compliance with federal regulation With a valid driver’s license Visit our career site https://planate.
