The finance and accounting department is one of the most crucial departments to ensure the success of any business organization and we are seeking a VP, Corporate Controller, to manage the accounting team.
The Controller will be reporting and will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including oversight of senior accountants, offshore accounting team, and various other responsibilities as part of the accounting team.
The Controller is expected to be a confident, dynamic, and sophisticated professional with a thorough understanding of real estate accounting, and operating in real estate accounting systems, internal controls, financial reporting, risk management, and a demonstrated track record of value creation.

Responsibilities Include: Detailed review of monthly reporting packages for the assigned properties: - Bank Reconciliations for each of the account within the properties - Cash Balance Reports - Roll Forwards and Closing Support schedules for each Account with activity and balances on the balance sheet of the properties, including depreciation and amortization schedules, prepaid insurance and tax, CIP, loan, equity, etc.
- Revenue, Straight line rent calculations, Percentage rent, and other income - Accruals schedule - Management Fee Calculations - Trial Balance and Flux analysis - Closing Yardi Entries, and elimination entries o Monthly investor reporting: review cash reporting inputs into investor forms o Investor reporting, including review of financial reporting, debt reporting templates, and Asset Management reporting o Monthly, quarterly, annual lender reporting o Currently 20+ audits and sets of audited financial statements o Provide PBC items to auditors and answer any questions o Review and oversee financial statement preparation by Senior Accountants o Prepare PBC information for the Tax team for REIT testing purposes o Facilitate Estimated Tax Payments based on information provided by the Tax team o Review K-1s and related schedules prepared by the Tax team o Assist in Compliance reporting o Review Property Tax payments, and ensure all bills are timely paid o Review budgets prepared by Asset Management & Property Management teams o Assist in budgeting corporate costs and debt service o Analyze budget for reasonableness o Ensure entities have sufficient cash when committing payments and releasing transfers o Cash projection for quarterly distributions/monthly capital calls o Discuss with Construction Accounting upcoming cash needs, and recommend properties that will require capital call o Review prepared capital call and approve vendors o Review invoices for processing and commit payments to be released · Assist with upcoming projects, including but not limited to Yardi projects, such as Fixed Assets module, Advanced budget and forecasting, Financial Reporting and Monthly close improvement projects, such as automation of relevant schedules.
Required Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience Big 4 accounting firm experience is preferred.
A master's degree or a CPA is highly preferred but not necessary if an individual has substantial professional accounting or finance experience.
Thorough understanding of financial statements and reporting a must.
· Experience with accounting software and systems, especially Yardi, is a significant plus.
· Work in a fast-paced environment, using your efficient prioritization skills to handle multiple projects with ease.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
