Overview
We are looking for a talented corporate development senior associate to join the Strategic Finance team at Verkada.
You will be the "first" official corp-dev hire as we look to build out the function.
You will also assist the broader Strategic Finance team on a wide variety of special projects that will help drive the business forward.
You should have a strong background in corporate development, finance, and strategy.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to think strategically, evaluate opportunities and risks, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Build top of funnel for us to complete M&A transactions – largely, this means deal sourcing and networking with VC, banks, and seed/A/B stage companies to see if their teams and/or technology are a fit
Drive market research, analyze market trends, and develop relationships with acquisition targets in areas that can complement Verkada's ecosystem.
Partner closely with HW/SW engineering, product and sales teams to identify strategic priorities and perform build/buy/partner analysis.
Own key aspects of the corp-dev process including market research, sourcing, financial modeling, and due diligence.
Develop the infrastructure that can support a world-class corp-dev function including internal databases, network maps and fundraising trackers.
Articulate findings and present the business case to senior management.
Assist with other parts of the acquisition integration process as needed.
Driver/partner with broader strategic finance team on various strategic projects/initiatives outside of corp-dev as needed.
Requirements:
3-5+ years of investment banking, consulting, private equity or prior corp-dev experience at a tech company.
Experience working within the early stage technology ecosystem a large plus
Raw smarts: we are looking for people with raw smarts who can approach complex problems, dive deep, and solve them from start to finish.
Strong analytical skills: fluency in performing rigorous financial, valuation and broad quantitative analyses and familiarity with accounting & key operational metrics.
Externally oriented: comfortable getting out of your seat and proactively contacting ecosystem players to find acquisition opportunities that may not be readily apparent
Cross-functional communication: you'll need to connect and partner with stakeholders across the organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
Flexibility: you are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment that will require you to manage competing priorities, pivot quickly and often, and continually build new processes as the company scales
Pay Disclosure
At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company.
With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity.
This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range.
This estimate is also just one component of Verkada's total rewards package.
A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
