The Research Management Group (RMG) at the Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking a Services Agreement Contracts Officer to review and negotiate a full array of contracts, including research-related and service agreements, to enable Stanford research, public service, and community outreach.
The Research Management Group provides timely, high-quality, and coordinated research administrative services to Stanford faculty and departments.
A remote work arrangement may be considered for candidates with the appropriate background and experience, depending on business needs of each unit.
Remote workers’ schedules are based in the Pacific Time zone.

edu/diversity Duties include: Negotiate complex agreements including fee-for-service and non-sponsored research-related agreements that involve intellectual property, publication, confidentiality and related issues.
Identify contractual and policy issues such as compliance, conflicts of interest and accounting, raise issues appropriate university officials, and provide follow through until resolved.
Advise and assist client groups by interpreting and explaining contract terms and conditions to faculty and staff.
Resolve contractual problems that develop during course of project by consulting with investigators, staff and sponsors.
Facilitate interactions with other university research administration offices.

Advanced ability to draft, negotiate and conclude complex agreements including fee-for-service and non-sponsored research-related agreements.
Thorough understanding of liability, regulatory compliance, intellectual property and licensing issues as they pertain to research.
Working knowledge of and experience applying regulatory requirements regarding research data and privacy, including HIPAA and GDPR as applied to research.
Advanced knowledge of contracting and related processes.
Make good independent decisions based on critical and analytical thinking, experience and judgement.
Deliver high quality service and work products that can be relied upon by clients and colleagues to meet business requirements.
Drive change and continuous improvement through individual contributions.
Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy under tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED): Advanced ability to draft, negotiate and conclude industry research agreements.
Thorough understanding of intellectual property and licensing issues as they pertain to industry sponsored research.
Thorough understanding of university research environment and policies.
Advanced communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups and all levels of management.
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills to review and analyze complex information.
Significant experience with contracts and grants administration; demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with industry.
Strong service orientation, demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, action-oriented, customer-focused service environment.
Extremely detail oriented, able to work well independently and knows when to escalate or seek assistance.
Excellent interpersonal skills, good judgment and the ability to conduct negotiations in a timely manner.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks and demands.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn applicable university and departmental systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Frequently perform desk based computer tasks, seated work and use light/ fine grasping.
Occasionally stand, walk, use a telephone, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Rarely writes by hand.
