The Stanford Center on Early Childhood, an initiative of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning, seeks a full time Learning and Evaluation Associate to join our team.
The Learning and Evaluation Associate will provide technical assistance and consultation to external organizations to help early childhood-focused initiatives understand their implementation and impact.
Note: This position is a 1-year fixed term appointment that may be renewed based on performance and funding.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work agreement and limited travel may be required for convenings and events.

ABOUT US Housed at Stanford Graduate School of Education, the Stanford Accelerator for Learning (SAL) is a research hub that connects experts from the sciences, medicine, engineering, law, and humanities to expedite learning solutions for all learners.
The first university-wide initiative to connect Stanford scholars across disciplines with external partners in the field, SAL bridges research, innovation, practice, and policy to achieve true system change.
SAL is currently focused on six areas of research that show high need and high promise for transformational change.
These areas include digital learning, early childhood education, learning differences, equity in learning, policy and systems change, and adult and workforce learning.
The Stanford Center on Early Childhood (SCEC) is an initiative of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning.
SCEC brings new tools and pathways for impact to the places where early childhood development happens–early learning environments, healthcare, and community-based family support programs and services.
POSITION SUMMARY One of the core programs of the SCEC, the CIRCLE team provides technical assistance and consultation to external partners including, but not limited to, community-based organizations, governmental agencies, and philanthropic funders.
The purpose of these engagements is to help early childhood-focused initiatives understand their implementation and impact.
The work we do to support partners exists on a continuum from creating an initial Theory of Impact (TOI), to being a full program evaluator and producing evaluation reports.
The Learning and Evaluation Associate (LEA) will join the CIRCLE team to provide technical assistance to external partners as well as continuing to develop, refine, and codify the impact evaluation procedures within the team.
The Learning and Evaluation Associate will work with external partners to provide high-quality technical assistance on impact evaluation and impact, collaborating with partners to develop theories of impact and design research protocols to evaluate impact against those models.
This position may be responsible for workshop facilitation as well as producing highly polished, comprehensive reports.
This position will work with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment to accomplish tasks.
This position may require up to 25% travel and extensive videoconferencing.
The successful candidate will have strong writing skills as well as a high level of data literacy and quantitative research skills.
This position requires a high level of professionalism, including organizational and interpersonal skills, as this will be an outward-facing role with a large degree of independence.
This role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
Remote work may be considered for the right candidate.
This position will be supervised by the Director of Learning and Evaluation.

Your primary responsibilities will include: Assist Program Director with designing research protocols constituting a phase of a research project for which precedents are few; conduct research that may involve coordinating a complex research protocol in a community setting.
Independently identify/modify standard procedures based on judgment concerning the general goals of a project; select approaches in developing, testing, and evaluating new methods.
Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams (across different schools, and organizations, and functions).
Co-author all or sections of a report for publication or professional presentation with the work being reviewed by the principal investigator or faculty.
Present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences as well as non-scientific audiences.
Collaborate with the Program Director to design a research approach of a project and/or integrate results of the entire project.
Complete project-related administrative responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.
This position may formally supervise and train new staff or students, including hiring, performance management, and related duties, in addition to instruction on techniques and consultation on project work.
To be successful in this position, you will bring: Graduate degree in an applicable social science related field and five years of applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant–experience in an applicable social science.
Expert level knowledge and skills in field of science related to research project.
General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.
Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

The expected pay range for this position is $82,000 to $105,000 per annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
