com), an upscale grocery store located in Palo Alto and in San Mateo, is currently hiring Part Timeline Cook Support Staff for our San Mateo store Deli Hot Foods Department.
We are a very busy store, so we need someone who is comfortable juggling multiple tasks at one time and maintaining a friendly and positive attitude.
Deli Dishwasher/Line Cook
We are currently seeking an individual who is a team player and will support the Deli Department by ‘troubleshooting’ during peak customer service and operational times.
Will wash needed utensils and pots/pans; cut, slice, and prepare needed foods for cooking or serving by the Hot Foods staff; stock supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards and refrigerators; supply inventory, empty and clean garbage cans, sweep or scrub floors and will do various tasks as assigned.
Must be able to:
Follow all Food Safety Guidelines for the State of CA and FDA
Fill out and maintain cook, cool, reheat, cleaning logs.
Check all areas for expired food.
Label food with date tags
Make sure food is protected.
Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients.
Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods
Present, garnish and arrange final dishes.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes.
Handle and store ingredients and food
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
Execute opening and closing procedures.
Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment.
Check the quality and freshness of ingredients.
Monitor station inventory levels.
Operate kitchen and deli equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers, steamers, slicers.
Requires the ability to work well under pressure and maintain a high level of customer service under time constraints.
Must be able to meet Deli staff requests in a reasonable amount of time.
Entry level position.
Experience in the retail grocery Deli environment preferred, but not required as training is available.
Must be able to work varied hours and shifts, including weekends.
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
