Maintenance Director

The Maintenance Director position is responsible for building and managing the maintenance team, prioritizing and assigning tasks, budgeting projects according to Company needs, performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes and to support the achievement of Draeger’s Supermarkets business goals and objectives.
Work Setting: In-person only.
Retail grocery stores, warehouse, production kitchens, corporate offices, walk-in freezers, coolers, rooftops.
This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer.
This is a FULL-TIME position.
Pay: $95k to $120k salary, depending on experience.
Must be able to travel to all store locations: Menlo Park, Los Altos, San Mateo, and Blackhawk (Danville).
Must have valid Driver License (CDL required).

* Prioritize and manage routine maintenance, ongoing projects, vendors.
* Recruit and build the maintenance team.
JOB DUTIES * Manage compliance based on historical fire inspection walkthroughs.
* Manage Health Department compliance based on historical inspections.
* Conduct liability inspections with insurance individuals.
* Keep current equipment inventory and log maintenance with a checklist.
* Assure elevator licensing compliance and maintenance.
* Assure escalator compliance and maintenance.
* Establish necessary maintenance agreements.
* Analysis of equipment useful life for cost effective replacement.
* Handle all breakdowns in an efficient manner.
* Coordinate with Store Managers and Maintenance Manager to resolve breakdown issues.
* Successfully complete “confined space” training and be able to work in confined spaces.
* Manage the maintenance of backflow devices for all locations.
* Support plant effort of focusing on, and adhering to, all Personnel and Food Safety, SQF, HACCP, Quality, AIB and GMP regulations and policies.
* Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels, including Union employees, management and Company owners.
QUALIFICATIONS * 5-10 years direct experience as a maintenance supervisor in the food industry.
* Able to perform various types of welding: TIG, MIG, arc, gas.
* Knowledge of refrigeration: repair fan motors, maintain all condensate drains/pans/evaporators.
* Clean all condensers.
* Thermostat and expansion valve replacement.
* Coordinate and accompany all service provider technicians.
* HVAC: Filter, belt, and shim replacement.
Grease nipple lubrication.
Condenser fin, cleaning and duct/ grate cleaning.
* Plumbing: Hydro jetting, snaking, washers, small leak repairs, along with drain epoxying/maintenance.
* Keep equipment food safe with ergonomic maintenance.
* Establish a janitorial checklist by position with standards for all activities and manage them.
(This would include in house and out of house.
) * Manage all ¼ ly annual & 5-year fire sprinkler inspections and remediation.
* Be able to manage all chemical applications, grease interceptor pump outs and grease trap for sewers.
* Be able to manage all maintenance and exercisers for emergency generators.
* Recruit, organize, and schedule staff.
* Manage and competitively contract all sanitation supplies.
