Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join the Fundamental AI Research organization (FAIR), a research organization focused on making significant progress in AI.
As a Research Scientist on the Embodied AI team at FAIR, you will be part of an innovative group of research scientists and engineers working on cutting-edge AI technologies for robotics, AR, and VR, and sharing this research with the world.
You will be responsible for pushing the state of the art in dexterous robot manipulation, by developing novel AI algorithms that leverage robot hands equipped with rich sensing modalities.
Research Scientist, Embodied AI (PhD) Responsibilities:
Conduct research and develop state-of-the-art AI approaches for dexterous robot manipulation that leverages rich sensing capabilities on robot hands.
Design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and document the findings in the form of technical reports and publications.
Collaborate with the broader team of researchers on the project, and influence project direction based on your area of expertise and experimental findings.
Write high quality, readable code that can be used and built upon by team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Research experience in machine learning, computer vision, representation learning, optimization, or robotics.
Experience with robotic manipulation.
Experience with robotics fundamentals such as perception, planning, and control.
Experience with machine learning models, and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences in Machine Learning (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR), Robotics (ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL), or Computer Vision (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV).
Experience with manipulating and analyzing complex, large scale, high-dimensional data from varying sources.
Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with multi-fingered robot hands, in simulation and/or on real hardware.
Experience with leveraging tactile sensing to improve the dexterity of robot manipulation.
Familiarity with robotics frameworks such as ROS.
Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.
g.
GitHub).
Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
