TITLE: Staff/Principal Software Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff/Principal Software Engineer is a key member of the software team who will be responsible for the architecture, development and test of critical software modules for the Triton Robot Software.
This member is expected to take the lead in mentoring peers, running code reviews and helping build a robust and safe software while demonstrating the flexibility and enthusiasm to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced and collaborative start-up environment.
The ideal candidate will act with passion and intensity in a medical device start-up that is fast paced and collaborative and display the ability to perform to the requirements outlined below.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own, architect and implement critical software sub-systems while adding new functionality to the robot.
Mentor peers and junior engineers with software design, architecture and code reviews.
Get a deep understanding of the current system and help debug complex issues as needed.
Support software and system infrastructure upgrades as needed.
Document software designs, reviews and processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

or M.
S in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields.
8+ years designing and developing software applications for hardware centric systems.
Robust knowledge of C++ and Python programming languages.
Strong background in object-oriented programming, software architecture and design patterns.
Ability and flexibility to handle multiple responsibilities within the software team based on priorities.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with workflow and state machine design and implementation.
Experience with the full lifecycle of design, development, verification and deployment of medical device software.
Experience with software development in the medical device industry (IEC62304).
Experience developing software for safety critical applications or robotic systems.
Some start-up experience or demonstrated ability to thrive in a driven, fast paced environment.

Our job titles may span more than one career level.
The starting base salary for this role is between $200,000 and $230,000 depending on experience.
The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location.
The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This role may also be eligible for equity, benefits and 401(K) with matching.
