What to Expect Tesla is on a path to building humanoid robots at scale to automate repetitive and boring tasks for manufacturing and logistics.
Our robot is an electro-mechanically actuated autonomous bi-pedal robot.
We are looking for Sr/Staff firmware engineers to lead architecture, development and validation of embedded firmware for joint controller and battery management system, enabling our Tesla Bot to perform locomotion and manipulation.
In this role, you will work closely with the electronics, actuator design, controls, and integration teams to architect, implement and test high performance, safety critical firmware over the full product life cycle.

You will use your creativity to solve some of the most challenging problems in the embedded software space.
What You’ll Do Development of real-time embedded software that implements control and safety management of the Tesla Bot actuators.
Develop automated tests to ensure high quality software releases and accurate functionality.
Be involved in the full life cycle of firmware development from concept through integration, test, and release as our fleet of robot grows.
Work closely with the hardware and control teams to specify hardware actuation and sensing requirements.
What You’ll Bring Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in real-time embedded software development BS in Computer Science, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, proof of exceptional skills in related fields with practical software engineering experience, or equivalent Proficiency in C, familiarity with MISRA C and Python are a plus Experience with reading electrical schematics and understanding circuit behavior Knowledge of microcontroller peripherals such as ADC, GPIO, PWM , SPI and I2C Experience working with sensors and digital signal processing What You'll Bring: Experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) Familiarity with control loops and PID controllers Familiarity with field-oriented motor control and permanent magnet motors a plus Knowledge of version control (Git) and continuous integration (Jenkins) a plus Familiarity with Hazard and Risk Assessment (HARA) and/or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) a plus
