What to Expect
Tesla’s Service New Product Introduction team is seeking a Technical Program Manager to shape the future of software tools and applications used by Tesla’s Service Engineering and Service Operations Teams.
Our purpose-built applications are critical to solving the most difficult problems for deploying energy storage and renewable energy at scale.
These products have company-wide and industry-defining impact, and they are key in accelerating the transition to a sustainable energy future at scale.
You will be in an impactful, collaborative, and complex product ownership role, with responsibility to manage the creation of new applications and a mandate to improve existing products.
You will work across the broad engineering organization; from Service Engineers, Service Operations Teams, New Product Introduction teams, to several teams of software and firmware engineers to deeply understand the users of these tools and drive improvements to our processes and deploy technical features to our software.
Many of our software tools are highly analytical, so a combination of strong analytical skills and software product management skills are required to ensure success in this role.
What You’ll Do
Work cross-functionally with internal users, engineering, and design to drive product strategy that meets core user needs
Manage the roadmap, get feedback, and develop ideas for new improvements that solve fundamental challenges facing the teams
Oversee the product development lifecycle from inception to launch through sustaining feedback, with an ability to prioritize the most important features to maximize impact
Lead stakeholder discussions for overall vision and translate them into detailed requirements, user stories, and actionable tasks, then feedback engineering discussions to refine them
Manage the implementation and ongoing success of software products, including (re)defining requirements, sprint planning, and release management
Conduct user research and contribute to the design of softwarePush for high reliability and responsiveness from a systems and user satisfaction perspective
Coordinate resources and broadcast timelines for deliverables
Define and monitor success metrics through SQL-powered dashboards
Gracefully prioritize objectives and deadlines and communicate your decisions clearly
Work cross-functionally to ideate on business problems outside your org vertical
What You’ll Bring
4+ years of work experience with evidence of successful product and/or project implementation in a fast passed environment
Experience managing software development (e.
g.
, software program management) required
Expertise in JIRA/MS Project (or similar) to estimate and track work.
Skilled at maintaining cross-functional work relationships and influencing without authority
Demonstrated proficiency with managing the software release lifecycle
Proficiency with data analytics using SQL
Demonstrable technical understanding of and experience in at minimum one of the following: Firmware development, Front End development, Back End software development, ETL/Data Engineering.
Self-motivated and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects
Experience creating operational metrics and dashboards using SQL and Tableau (or similar) visualization tools preferred · Experience with user research and user experience a plus
Pragmatic leadership: effectively drive improvements that actually get successfully implemented and add value to Tesla
