What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an awesome Automation Engineer to develop methods to simulate vehicle, environmental and user behaviors at system-level to guide future product development and raise the quality of existing firmware releases.
Work in a creative automation lab environment with a team dedicated to building software, hardware and mechanical solutions to automate system-level tests.
The ideal candidate is an expert in Python, system-level troubleshooting, automation tools, hardware debug/design and firmware development.
Focus areas include Low Voltage Network Management, Lithium-Ion and Lead-Acid Battery Management, Functional Safety Concepts, Security and Authentication and Body Controls (falcon wings, power front doors, other vehicle mechatronics).
What You’ll Do
Design software, hardware and automation infrastructure to simulate user and vehicle behaviors
Test features during development and release stages, and provide design inputs
Investigate fleet/vehicle data, source code and hardware schematics to identify and root-cause issues at the system level and propose robust solutions
Collaborate with broad cross-functional teams
Create detailed and rigorous test specifications based on requirements and system understanding
Improve safety, performance and customer satisfaction with Tesla products
Help develop the world’s most exciting cars and the shift to sustainable transportation
Promote and protect Tesla’s reputation as a cutting-edge company producing the world’s most exciting cars and shifting the paradigm of personal transportation worldwide
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, proof of exceptional skills in related fields with practical software engineering experience, or equivalent
Hands-on experience debugging software and hardware in complex systems
Experience with Python or other scripting languages
Major interest in solving complex and time critical problems
Experience with automation (Jenkins, Docker, etc.
)
Experience with C/C++ for embedded systems
Experience with lead acid batteries, charging and safety
