Tesla participates in the E-Verify Program
What to Expect
The reliability data science team's mission is to utilize and leverage large-scale data to help Tesla design and validate the most compelling and reliable products for our customers.
For this purpose, we collect real-time life data from test, factory and fleet across all products (energy, charging, and vehicle products) and utilize data-driven models to unlock decision making on prognostics and targeted design actions.
The team provides support through the whole design cycle by building software tools that orchestrate all the reliability statistics & physics analyses.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate engineer who will focus on our Prognostics and Health Monitoring efforts.
This engineer will help define and build both data-driven and physics-based models for reliability prognostics including computation of remaining useful life for Tesla products.
This role will be key to helping Tesla utilize the sensory data it collects and develop algorithms to enable prognostics applications at scale and maximize electronic systems availability under the entire spectrum of use conditions.
The level of this position will be determined at the time of the interview.
What You’ll Do
Develop state-of-the-art prognostics algorithms and approaches for hybrid physics-based and data-driven prognostics, including physics-informed machine learning
Work cross-functionally with various teams (e.
g.
, Design for Reliability, Test, Architecture & Design, Controls, Firmware, Service) to investigate failure modes, improve understanding of physics-of-failure phenomena at stake and drive relevant improvements in prognostics and health monitoring applications
Contribute to the effort to build data pipelines and predictive time-to-failure models
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree or higher in quantitative discipline (e.
g.
, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics) or equivalent experience
Strong knowledge of statistics and machine learning
Strong knowledge of physics and engineering principles
Strong proficiency in a programming language such as Matlab, Python, C, C++ or Java
Ability to read and implement related academic literature and experience in applying state-of-the-art prognostics algorithms
Experience with applied or computational physics, building software for reliability physics analysis
Experience with leveraging (statistical) signal processing at scale
Experience with systems health and/or systems' health monitoring
Experience building data visualizations
General knowledge of Big Data ecosystem (Spark, Presto, Data Lake/Warehouse)
