What to Expect
The Role
Tesla's Software Platforms team provides the foundation on which the in-vehicle user experience is built.
We build the software platform (kernel, bootchain, drivers, and lower level userspace platform services) for our innovative Infotainment hardware.
This includes high resolution touch displays, high definition audio, bluetooth/wifi/cellular connectivity, USB, cameras, all connected to high performance multi-core processors and GPUs.
Our software is based on Linux, GNU toolchain, buildroot, and other open source projects, delivering the security, capability, and performance demanded by our user experience.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a large impact in the Tesla product roadmap and mission.
What You’ll Do Write well structured, testable, efficient, and maintainable code Integrate software components into a fully functional software system Work closely with cross-functional teams, in hardware, manufacturing, service and programs, to deliver high quality products in multiple spaces, from update systems, real-time and linux-host operating system platforms, and core technologies such as audio, graphics, or vehicle functions Tailor and deploy software tools, processes and metrics Use existing available hardware in innovative ways to solve problems Board bringup and hardware design validation Deploy software incrementally to meet very fast paced development Develop software tests and continuous integration for your code Support factory provisioning, test, and improvements Assess and document new product feasibility What You’ll Bring 8+ years embedded software and/or firmware development experience Direct technical contributions in your current role, in code and design Extensive background in device development (consumer electronics, automotive, etc.
) Experience being a technical lead or owning projects, with a history of outstanding accomplishments from architecture definition to product delivery Background in embedded C development, whether real-time OS or linux-class hosts Background in software architecture and systems design, on hardware through integration, test and high-volume manufacturing Sound architecture and software fundamentals including software design and maintainability Domain experience in consumer products or related technologies is highly preferred (audio, graphics, update systems, etc.
