Summary:
Seeking a highly motivated, personable, friendly, and confident Pilates Reformer Instructor with a passion for helping others to find their best selves through wellness and fitness.
Pilates Instructors are responsible for designing and leading safe, effective, and enjoyable Pilates small group classes, Pilates Privates or Semi-Private sessions.
The position entails the following responsibilities.
This is not a complete description, and certain responsibilities may additionally be presented along the course of employment:
Provide Pilates Reformer small group classes, and possibly Private, Semi-Private and Mat Pilates training.
Must be willing to build and retain a business.
Must be able to teach an appropriate class or session for the person or people in the studio.
Know the Pilates repertoire well enough to teach an entire class at a beginning and intermediate level.
Classical Pilates is not required.
Pilates Instructor may teach a fitness-based Pilates class.
Be able to inspect the equipment prior to the beginning of class to see that equipment is in good working order and safe to use
Instructors are required to arrive before the class time to set up the Pilates Studio
Start and end class on time
Keep the studio clean by sweeping the floor after a group class and remembering to leave the studio neater than when you walked into the studio.
Respond to emails and calls in a timely manner
Contact the group exercise manager if there are any issues regarding the equipment, including the reformers, lights, fans, floor and props.
Follow safety policies and be able to perform needed assistance in a medical or environmental emergency such as fire or earthquake
Qualifications
Must be certified by Pilates Method Alliance or other nationally recognized certification (such as STOTT, Balanced Body, BASI, Polestar and/or have completed a Pilates teacher training with a minimum of 300 hours).
Current CPR & AED Certification is required
Proof of COVID Vaccination
Have knowledge of functional anatomy and kinesiology
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Must communicate professionally and effectively to both clients and colleagues.
Must be skilled at proper and safe use of Pilates Reformers and other equipment, such as Jumpboards, dumbbells, and sliding discs to ensure a safe, creative, fun and effective class.
Experience teaching a variety of clients
Able to modify exercises to accommodate special populations (osteoporosis, Pregnancy, etc.
)
Strong communication skills: ability to lead the class with brief concise directions
Must be willing to work at least 2 shifts or classes per week
Working as part of a team of instructors
Staying informed on the offerings in the PJCC Pilates Department
Foster positive client relationships and community in classes
Participate in continuing education
Keep Pilates certification up to date.
Must have Driver's License and reliable transportation
Certifications:
Pilates Method Alliance or other nationally recognized Pilates certification program.
