Velodyne:
* The Holy Grail of the early 90s !!!
* As everyone knows, this is the best 12" inch SQ sub there is.
Hands down.
It may not be the loudest, but in my opinion, it is the best.
Why else do you think it now sells for around $1500 new.
They stopped producing these in 1996 and that's what year this one's from.
Beautiful sub, beautiful sound.
Extremely hard to find!!! Be the only one in your town who can play clean down to 15hz at full volume with less than 1% distortion and regular subs have over 25% distortion.
* You can use the sub as a Free air, ported or sealed.
* The ONLY 12" inch sub that will come CLOSE to the Velodyne in terms of accuracy and sound quality would be the ESOTAR 1200.
NO OTHER SUBS will match the Velodyne when it comes to accuracy in my personal opinion.
I've listened to many of them and they don't come close to the Velodyne.
* Really rare, early 90s stuff and I think it's the only car audio sub that comes with a servo feedback circuit.
This technology is great and thrives in high-end home audio in powered subs in the 4~5 figures price range but it never caught on in car audio.
* The DF-12SC 12" inch Velomotive car subwoofer, they were manufactured by Velodyne for a period of about 2 years.
They were the automotive equivalent of the home servo subwoofers, and were quite effective when set up and operating properly.
They usually require professional installation, it's not something you simply throw into your car and can expect to get working if your not accustomed to working with them.
