50+ Baseball (hardball) We're looking for skilled baseball players for our 50 and older men's baseball team.
We have a couple of full-time roster spots remaining for 2024 that we need to fill.
We need 2 additional outfielders to complete our roster.
We'll take a good glove over a good bat any day but if you're also a good hitter so much the better.
We'll take good talent regardless of position, except catcher, and find a way to make it work.
Our guys are flexible, most will play where they're needed to help the team win games.
We're set for pitching but if you pitch and are effective we will find innings for you.
At the moment we should be good as far as a backup catcher goes but it's possible he might not be available when we need him.
If you're serviceable behind the dish and you can play outfield that would be ideal.
I have extra catcher's gear and mitt that doesn't get used anymore.
If you are athletic and have some experience catching but don't have gear you could see some time behind the dish while our stud catcher is out glamping late in the summer.
We will consider part time players.
You can pay for half the season or on a per game basis.
But full time is preferable.
For 2024 our 16-game spring/summer season runs from Sunday, April 7th to Sunday, August 11th.
Playoffs run into mid September.
We play 1, 3-hour/9-inning game on Sundays, except holiday weekends.
First pitch is either 10AM or 2PM and all games include 2 umpires.
Most of our games will be in Redwood City.
We might have a game or 2 in San Rafael and/or Alameda.
The pitching in our league/division ranges from 50MPH to the low 70s but mostly 60ish.
When replying please include your age and your experience.
High School, amateur, college, minors, MLB and how many World Series you played in.
;-) Also, the last time you played, total years played and where.
Include your primary and secondary defensive positions.
Include any other info that would help us determine if you're a good fit for our team and whether or not we should meet for a tryout.
As far as a tryout goes there's a super nice park in Foster City.
It has a batting cage as well as 2 baseball fields.
I can throw BP and hit you some grounders and/or fly balls.
If you pitch we should be able to get on a mound.
If the mound is not available you can just throw off of flat ground.
Let me know when we can meet.
I'm available for tryouts on Saturdays or Sundays.
3PM is best.
Thanks
