Reminiscent of a Wedgwood black basalt bowl but without the markings.
There is only the marking "Italy" on the bottom
Black Basalt ware is a dry-bodied stoneware fired in an oxidizing atmosphere to produce a black fabric.
It was originally used by Josiah Wedgwood for his famous Etruscan vases, and it continued later in use for such everyday items such as tea wares.
This bowl has neoclassical garland decoration in relief.
This could potentially be a Mottahedeh design from the 1960s.
If so, it would sell for close to $500.
11-3/8" diameter with 10-3/4" diameter opening
4-3/4" T with slight pedestal base
Weight = 6 lbs
Payment by cash,Venmo or Zelle at the time of pick up in the town of Sonoma.
