An established San Mateo law firm is currently seeking a Civil Litigation Paralegal to independently oversee the day-to-day file handling.
Supports the attorneys in file handling, discovery, calendaring and scheduling.
This is a permanent, full-time hybrid position.

1) Preparation of Requests for Admissions 2) Prepare Form Interrogatories 3) Prepare Special Interrogatories 4) Prepare Demand for Inspection 5) Prepare Notice of Depositions - Schedule - Arrange for court reporter - Arrange for interpreter when needed 6) Subpoena of records (medical, employment, financial) 7) Review, Index and Analysis of Discovery received including: - depositions - medical records, employment records, financial records - interrogatory responses, document production, request for admissions 8) Preparing responses to discovery.
- Meeting with clients to obtain information - Preparing verifications - Finalize discovery responses - Proper service of responses - Notify clients of depositions 9) Expert Witness Discovery - Assist in locating experts - Steps to retain witness - Provide appropriate information to expert - Prepare Demand for Expert Witness - Prepare Disclosure of Expert witness - Notice and where appropriate Subpoena of Experts 10) Law and Motion - Understand time deadlines, how to get matters filed and proofs of service - Perform initial drafting of motions - Monitor Tentative ruling 11) Trial (knowledge of trial process from expert discovery through trial) - Prepare Jury Instructions - Brief Statement of the Case - Motions in Limine - Subpoena of Witnesses - Notify our witnesses - Coordinate witnesses for trial - Prepare trial binders - Prepare witness binders - Coordinate any third-party vendors needed for trial 12) Post-trial; Prepare Memorandum of Costs.
Qualifications: * Education: Certification or degree in paralegal or legal studies from an accredited degree program.
* Knowledge and Understanding of Discovery (California Discovery Statutes) * Experience: 2 - 5 years as a paralegal (those with significant experience as legal secretaries are encouraged to apply) Skill/Aptitudes: * Proficient computing skills especially in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams, and Planner.
) * Proficient in using Clio Manage, Clio Grow, Gavel or other Case Management Software.
* Proficient in using Acrobat * Proficient in using legal billing software (familiarity with litigation insurance billing codes a plus) * Proficient in using programs for Judicial Council Forms (such as HotDocs or Lexis automated forms) and software or Lexis automated forms for CACI Jury Instructions.
* Proficient in using Electronic Filing in State and Federal Courts Physical Requirements: * Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Compensation: 35.
00 - 45.
00/hr DOE Competitive compensation will be based on experience and is expected to be at the $72,800 – $93,600 per annum level with the potential for additional compensation for billed hours in excess of 1,350 hours.
