" The San Mateo Medical Center's Patient Financial Services Department is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Patient Services Supervisor.
The Patient Services Supervisor is responsible for managing patient revenue by establishing, implementing, and controlling billing system and processes.
This position will be responsible for orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations, planning, and monitoring tasks required to meet billing operational standards; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards; resolving problems; and identifying necessary billing system and staff improvements.
Additionally, this position will authorize expenditures for purchasing of office supplies and monitor these expenses throughout the year.
This position will monitor and supervise revenue cycle functions including but not limited to; over-payment resolution processes, charity care ACE program, discounted health, special programs, correctional health , medi-cal and managed care timely reimbursement, customer concerns and hospital legal correspondence.
This position will be required to produce detailed analysis and reporting of revenue cycle functions including productivity and reimbursement trending and prepare presentations and training material as needed.
This Full-Time, Regular vacancy is located in South San Francisco, and the successful hire will travel throughout the County for supervision meetings, etc.
The ideal candidate will be able to plan, organize, prioritize and supervise the work of hospital billing and follow up effectively; supervise staff conducting patient billing and follow up activities; work independently with minimal supervision using initiative and sound independent judgment within established guidelines; read, interpret and apply rules, policies and procedures; maintain accurate records and files; organize work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines; communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and demonstrate experience working with diverse client groups and staff.
Produce revenue cycle reports using excel, word and power point.
Analysis data and produce trending information with detailed explanations.
The ideal candidate will have proven hospital patient accounting billing and follow up experience, Long Term Care, Psych, and Inpatient knowledge regarding payer regulatory requirements and the varied reimbursement methodologies.
The ideal candidate will have EPIC and/or Cerner Invision hospital patient management experience and an indebt knowledge regarding professional and technical claim forms and related payer requirements including FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Clinic).

Current County of San Mateo and County of San Mateo Superior Court of California employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, Confidential and Management extra-help/limited term, and SEIU or AFSCME represented extra help/limited term positions prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their final passing score on this examination.

The examination process will consist of an application screening (pass/fail) based on the candidates' application and responses to the supplemental questions.

Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification.
