Youth Programs, housed in the Department of Recreation and Wellness, is looking to hire seasonal part-time employees to work the 8 week summer day camp.
*This summer we will be hosting a 8-week summer camp beginning on June 10th, and ending on August 9th, 2024.
Camp Cardinal will be closed the week of July 1st - July 5th.
* *Hours will be from 10:00am - 6:00pm Monday - Friday * This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team and make a difference in a child’s afterschool experience.
*Description* Stanford University Camp Cardinal is recruiting for a three month, full-time Lead Counselor who will manage the day-to-day operations of Stanford’s Camp Cardinal programs.
The Lead Counselor will be responsible for set-up and take-down of all sporting activities, organization of the supply closet, maintaining inventory counts of all equipment and supplies, and providing support to the general needs of the team.
The Lead Counselor will be knowledgeable and up to date on each sporting activity including the equipment needed, set-up structure, and the time frame.
The Lead Counselor will take part in the check-in and check-out operations of camp.
The Lead Counselor will be an expert communicator and team-player; must be comfortable filling in for any counselor when needed.
The Lead Counselor will create a safe and fun environment for children attending camp.
The Lead Counselor will also be expected to lead extended care after camp, and is approved to rotate days with their counterparts.
This application is for full-time, three month employment only and is not eligible for benefits.
The candidate may be required to work mornings, days, evenings, and/or holidays and will fill staffing vacancies as needed.

*Ideal Candidate* The ideal Lead Counselor will: ● Have 1+ years of summer camp counselor experience, with Camp Cardinal is a plus.
● Possess strong leadership skills including organization, time management, and the ability to maintain a safe and fun environment for the children and staff.
● Ability to communicate swiftly and effectively.
Maintain excellent communication with children attending camp; receive and respond to parent complaints and inquiries; explain and enforce policies and procedures.
● Possess great teamwork ability; build excellent working relationships with coworkers and children attending camp.
● Possess great organizational and time management skills with the ability to organize multiple activities at once.
●Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills ●Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch ●Ability to climb, push, and pull ●Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 pounds *Minimum Qualifications* Education and Experience Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities are qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: ● 1 year of College ● 1 year of summer camp counselor experience.
● Competitive experience with sporting events.
● Leading a group of individuals.
●Licenses and Certifications ● Possession of a valid CPR certification, or completion of certification within 7 days of your first shift.
●*Must be available for staff training on June 5th and June 6th, 2024 * ● *Must be available to start work on June 10, 2024 * *Compensation* The hourly base pay range for this role is expected to be between $19-$23.
Base paycould vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and the applicant's skill set.
