The Research Volunteer List Program is a Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Office of Research & Development (ORD) supported national program with VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
The VHA ORD Research Volunteer List program enrolls Veterans who are interested in participating in various research opportunities that are related to their health conditions and personal interests which allows VA researchers to have access to a plethora of participants that can be filtered by location, basic demographic information and major health conditions.
The Research Volunteer List aims to optimize Veteran enrollment into VA research studies to discover therapies for illnesses and conditions that impact our Veteran community.
The VHA ORD Research Volunteer List program at VA Palo Alto is seeking a Senior Program Manager (Health Science Specialist).
The position is a temporary appointment.
Key Duties:
· Responsible for creating project management plans for various research initiatives, coordinating across the various research initiatives, coordinating across the various research Domains, communicating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and Domain leads, proposing milestones and outcomes, tracking progress, identifying barriers and challenges, and providing overall guidance and accountability to task completion.
· Manage key projects and be responsible for the coordination and execution of research projects hitting timelines within budget and within scope.
· Work directly with assigned research staff, providing research project direction within each Domain and serve as advisor to their responsible Domain teams, provide valuable consultative services, as well as assisting in the planning, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of milestones for each research plan.
· Provide project management support functions to actually being responsible for the direct management of a research project.
· Lead project strategy, project management, technology approach, implementation methodology, quality control, and support.
· Build and develop the research team to ensure maximum performance by providing purpose, direction and motivation.
Will delegate tasks based on junior staff members’ individual strength, skill sets, and experience levels to streamline project efficiency and maximize deliverable outputs.
· Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and work in collaboration with the service’s contracting officer’s representative (COR) and staff for requested research services and research supplies that are contracted through approved vendors.
Qualifications:

· Must have experience within a related health science research program.
· Master's or higher degree in a public health or scientific research-related field.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with a large and diverse team.
· Strong attention to details and have good organizational skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (e.
g.
Excel, Word) required
