A Brief Overview The Assistant Manager of the OR Environmental is responsible for the delivery of environmental support services as well as equipment maintenance and repair for the Interventional Platform.
The Assistant Manager of the OR Environment also manages the Operating Room Assistants (including Leads) in the training, coaching and day-to-day performance of their duties and ensures that the team/staff adheres to the standards and protocols of the Stanford Health Care (SHC).
In addition, there is the management of organizational systems and workflow, continuous quality improvement, fiscal management and departmental goals and programs for any related areas.

Interview, select, hire, and evaluate Operating Room Assistants in accordance with departmental standards.
Manages and monitors the provision of quality and cost-effective environmental support services in accordance with standards of practice and SHC policies and procedures.
Develops, implements, and evaluates systems and practices which facilitate smooth workflow and desired outcomes.
Solicits input from managers, leads, and staff.
Recommends changes and enhancements to the OR Environmental Manager.
Works with management, leads, and staff to determine a model for environmental support services in the Interventional Platform.
Implements and evaluates model for safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Proactively uses problem solving process to identify, prevent, or resolve departmental problems, utilizing the chain of command as necessary.
Works with managers, leads, and staff to reduce operational expenses.
Assists with administering and monitoring expenditures, completing variance reports, and implementing corrective action to resolve budget variances.
Supports the OR environment with equipment availability of major moveable and fixed equipment in the Interventional Platform with key individuals in the OR and other departments.
Collaborates with Materials Management personnel to establish inventory levels.
Integrates department's services with the hospital's primary functions by supporting organizational mission, priorities and goals, and be delivering optimal quality health care services.
Continuously assesses and improves department's performance based on "customer" needs; directs and participates in improving performance and services which benefit staff, patients and other customers.
Effectively maintains appropriate quality improvement and control programs in response to staff and patient feedback, internal standards of care, and external requirements.
Recommends space and other resources needed by department to meet patient and staff needs.
Recommends and participates in selecting outside resources for needed services.
Develops and maintains an effective system of information, records, and reports for assigned departments(s) utilizing appropriate manual or electronic system.
Actively participates in Process Improvement work and helps identify key solutions to departmental workflow constraints.
Prepares disciplinary reports and conducts follow up investigations as needed.
Reports findings to the OR Environmental Manager.
Conducts disciplinary meetings with staff through guidance from the Environmental Manager.
Reviews timecards daily and discusses with staff to comply with timekeeping policies and procedures.
Participates in Environment of Care rounds and offers suggestions for improving the quality of care.
Participates and coordinates meetings with other departmental leaders for optimal effectiveness from all departmental staff.
Education Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent, Required.
Associate's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university, Preferred.
Experience Qualifications Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible and directly service-related work experience including one year of lead or supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Windows based software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in oral and written presentations.
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities and work within specific timelines.
Ability to maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership abilities.
Ability to use working knowledge of working environment to meet established goals and objectives.
