The Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and management of the daily operations and activities of the assigned Pharmacy area.
The Supervisor establishes the process for effective pharmacy operations including dispensing and distribution, and monitoring, and compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Performs all functions related to managing the day-to-day operations, scheduling and workflows for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Leads, directs, coaches and evaluates employees in the performance of operational and clinical functions, standard methodologies and best practices.
Ensure the quality, integrity of processes and operational efficiency.
Meets and performs all activities associated with the supervision of people.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
* Establishes the responsibilities and schedules to be assigned to pharmacists and technicians, as appropriate.
* Supervises day-to-day drug distribution and compounding activities, and assists in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of daily operations of the assigned pharmacy areas.
* Performs staffing for minimum 20% of working hours per pay period, but not more than half the working time.
* Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of Departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensures the compliance of the department Policies/Procedures, SOPs, and correct record keeping.
* Oversees and assist the training of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students and residents in the assigned pharmacy areas.
* Assists in budget adherence and performs special projects as assigned.
* Evaluates and conducts employee performance reviews.
Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: PharmD from an accredited college/university.
Completion of a Residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is preferred Experience: Two (2) years of hospital pharmacist experience and the Completion of a PGY-1 ASHP accredited Pharmacy Residency program at LPCHS - OR- Five (5) years of hospital pharmacist experience.
License/Certification: Licensed as a Pharmacist by the California Board of Pharmacy.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers -OR- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Certification for Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Healthcare Providers.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.
* Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results * Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader * Ability to work with devices, information systems, automated and technical equipment utilized in pharmacy * Knowledge of influence of patient's age, sex, concomitant disease states, concurrent drug therapy, foods and diagnostic procedures on drug activity and disposition * Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility * Knowledge of Medical terminology and abbreviations; pharmacology and pharmacological nomenclature; medical therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and disease states * Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in proper handling and storing of pharmaceutical supplies * Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pathology, chemistry and mathematics as they relate to pharmacy practice * Knowledge of prescription and non-prescription drugs and drug products and their indications, efficacy, dosage, mechanisms of action; fate and disposition (if known), major contraindications and potential side effects Physical Requirements and Working Conditions The Physical Requirements and Working Conditions in which the job is typically performed are available from the Occupational Health Department.
