The Peninsula Jewish Community Center’s (PJCC) Camp KEFF has provided outstanding summer, fall, winter, and spring programs for youth from preschool - grade 11 for more than five decades.
We provide a safe and nurturing environment where youth & teens can play and grow while loving their authentic selves.
Hundreds of campers attend our programs each year to enjoy our week-long sessions filled with Jewish values, inspired to make the world a better place! All our camps are accredited by the American Camp Association.
The LIT Unit Head is an integral part of the camp leadership team, working with the Assistant Youth Director: Camp to ensure a safe and positive camp experience for all campers Grades 9-11.
Leaders in Training Unit Head will lead their team in team building activities, leadership programs, training, professional development and more, while ensuring the safety of all LIT’s.
Responsibilities include co-designing and implementing programs and activities alongside the Assistant Youth Director: Camp, and communicating with counselors and parents, while modeling professionalism.
The LIT Unit Head will collaborate with other members of the camp leadership team to ensure a successful integration of LIT’s into the core day program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned.
Design and facilitate camp programs for LIT’s in grades 9-11.
Maintain a physically and emotionally safe teen camp environment.
Resolve any conflicts that arise within the group.
Ability to deliver clear and thoughtful feedback with sensitivity Attend camping trips, field trips, and other camp events as necessary Assist with the development of programming for teens.
Work collaboratively with other staff members to plan unit and camp-wide activities and programs Hours: 7:30 am – 5:15 pm, Monday – Friday, June 12 – August 4 Mandatory staff training 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday May 30-June 9, includes a mandatory overnight.
Additional extended days and/or overnights may be required.
Dates and schedules for extended work hours will be provided during staff training.
Additional opportunities through August 11 are available.
Mandatory Family events: Open house June 7th 6:00-8:00pm Family Picnic June 23rd 6:00-8:00pm Family Picnic July 28th 6:00-8:00pm Salary: $954- $1106 per week depending upon experience.
Overnight bonus of $75/night for sleepovers and camping trips.
Free Summer membership to the PJCC Athletic Center.
21 years of age or older.
2 years experience working with teens required.
Passionate about working with children, especially teens.
Experience with staff supervision, program planning for teens and working with teens.
Basic First Aid, Adult and Child CPR with AED certified or ability to obtain upon employment.
Past experience working in a camp setting preferred.
Knowledge of Jewish culture is a plus.
Must be comfortable entering the pool to supervise children Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before start of employment Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
