Chief of Staff to EVP HR Reporting to and working side-by-side with Gilead’s EVP and Head of Human Resources, the Chief of Staff will be a critical partner in ensuring that overall work within the HR leadership team flows smoothly by driving operational efficiency and effectiveness, strategic alignment, and integration of activities.
The Chief of Staff will bring a highly organized approach, facilitate coordination among and across the team to ensure focus on the right things and delivery on commitments.
This highly visible role will draw upon expertise in business for HR, project management, financial responsibility, planning, and operational coordination to help support the implementation and execution of HR priorities.
This role will support EVP HR in preparation of materials and coordinate cross functional projects and information across the HR leadership team and assist in development of key programming.
The chief of staff will also lead internal initiatives that help the organization operate better, ensure employee engagement across the organization from an HR perspective Key Responsibilities Partner closely with the EVP of HR and HRLT leadership team on both key projects as well as tactical execution of the HR agenda Drive integration and good governance practices across the HR Leadership Team, working closely with the EVP HR to plan and facilitate agendas for functional prioritization, integration, planning and resourcing Facilitate HR’s annual strategic planning process and integrate appropriately with corporate and cross-functional planning in partnership with VP of HR planning & operations Maintain HR’s annual programs calendar as well as an integrated, detailed view of key dates for new initiatives Partner closely with Finance to manage the overall HR budget and tracking Utilize analytic and market research skills to identify internal and external trends that may impact or influence HR strategy.
Prepare HR presentations for internal and external audiences on behalf of the EVP HR Partner with Public Affairs, HR Communications and other stakeholders to guide & coordinate communication on behalf of EVP HR Unanticipated activities and tasks may arise to support the overall HR function and/or support cross-functional alignment Education and Experience Requirements The ideal candidate for this role must be versatile, multi-functional and have the ability to work on a wide range of projects, varying in size and complexity.
The candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills with experience developing and managing milestone schedules/timelines preferred.
This role provides privileged access to confidential and highly sensitive information, requiring a candidate who acts with the utmost integrity and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
In addition, the candidate must possess: 14+ years Bachelor’s degree required or 12+ years and a Masters/MBA (preferred) 10+ years experience working in related business function (HR, finance, project management, consulting) with direct HR experience desirable.
Experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry preferred.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Strong analytical, organizational, planning, communications skills Strong project management skills required Ability to work independently and at time with limited direction Able to work with highly confidential topics Ability to be independent in making decisions on behalf of EVP HR/ HRLT Able to consider tradeoffs and risks to ensure projects move forward Must employ sound judgment in escalating and clear communication to keep stakeholders appropriately informed Collaborative and integrated thinking with a global mindset.

The salary range for this position is: $199,835.

Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
