In this pivotal role, you will be at the helm of overseeing the entire life cycle of hardware components vital to our cutting-edge proteomics platform.
As a Senior Hardware Life Cycle Manager at Nautilus Biotechnology, you will leverage your deep understanding of hardware and instrument development, testing, validation, and maintenance within the biotech context to drive excellence in our technological capabilities.

This position is in San Carlos, CA and requires an onsite presence.
Responsibilities Manage all aspects of hardware (Instrument and Flow cells) documentation management in Arena, including: Ensuring completeness of product documentation; follow up with Engineering/R&D to resolve missing or inaccurate information.
Running of the cross functional Engineering Change management and change implementation approval processes.
Communication and implementation of approved design changes with the involved suppliers; quantification of any excess & obsolete material caused by the change and coordination with the Finance team on appropriate disposition of excess and obsolete materials.
Responsible for management and transactions of all HW inventory including transactions to transfer inventory to suppliers or internal organizations.
Coordination with Finance on implementing physical inventory count/cycle counts to minimize inventory variances.
Implementation and ongoing HW inventory transactions in Netsuite.
Development and tracking of project schedules related to supplier production readiness to support launch and ongoing shipments.
Proactive identification and resolution of issues that would lead to schedule delays.
All planning activities associated with instrument and flow cell production requirements to support on-time delivery of product to internal and external customers.
Ongoing tracking and reporting of product COGS and creation, with cross functional teams of roadmaps to support ongoing COG reduction requirements to include: Coordination of value-engineering activities and implementation timing.
Cost impact associated with design/material change implementation.
Ongoing reporting of current and expected COGS targets.
Development and ongoing maintenance of standard costing with the Finance team.
Primary point of contact for Netsuite implementation and maintenance for all Hardware related information and transactions.
Additionally: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of hardware life cycle plans with overall product development and business objectives.
Work closely with product managers and engineers to define hardware requirements, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and compliance with industry regulations.
Provide guidance and oversight during the design and development phase, ensuring hardware components are designed for cost, manufacturability, and long-term reliability.
Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality hardware components.
Conduct regular assessments of suppliers' capabilities and performance to maintain strong and reliable partnerships.
Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the hardware life cycle, including specifications, test plans, and validation reports.
Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders on the status of hardware life cycle activities.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of proven experience in hardware life cycle management, preferably in the biotechnology or medical device industry.
Strong knowledge of hardware design principles, testing methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent project management and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Detail-oriented with a focus on ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability.
