Stanford Seed is a GSB-led initiative working to end the cycle of global poverty by partnering with entrepreneurs in emerging markets to build thriving enterprises that transform lives.
Stanford Seed seeks an Assistant Director to manage and support programs and initiatives that engage entrepreneurs across Africa and South Asia in the Seed Transformation Network (the Network), a diverse community of 800+ entrepreneurs from 20+ countries who have completed the Seed Transformation Program.
The Assistant Director will manage and serve as the primary point of contact for the Seed Coaching Program, a foundational Network program that supports entrepreneurs and their teams on the path to transformation.
Seed coaches are business executives from around the world with extensive private sector management experience, who volunteer for a year to work side by side with entrepreneurs and their teams to support them on the implementation of their companies’ transformation goals: transforming companies into industry leaders and job creators.
All aspects of management – leadership, product design, finance, marketing, supply chain, and more - factor into these engagements.
In addition, the Assistant Director will work closely with other members of the Program Delivery Team and staff from our four global offices to manage and support a variety of strategic initiatives for the Network, including planning and implementing global events on entrepreneurship, facilitating committees, and researching and developing new program opportunities for the Network.
The successful applicant will have the exciting and unique opportunity to develop and engage with a robust community of global volunteers including Stanford alumni, as well as entrepreneurs, finding new ways to foster connections among these groups and with Seed.
In addition, you will be a key thought partner and contributor to the ongoing development of the Seed Transformation Network.
Note: This is a hybrid position with expectations to be in the office for a minimum of two days per week.
Your primary responsibilities include: Managing the end-to-end experience for volunteers and entrepreneurs participating in the Seed Coaching Program: Recruiting and selecting participants for the program.
Developing the training and onboarding plan for participants.
Managing project timelines for new initiatives that increase the impact and efficiency of the program.
Serving as the primary relationship manager to participants in the program Partner with the data & systems team on improving technology tools and processes that enhance the program’s ability to scale.
Measuring the impact and evaluating the effectiveness of the program.
Publicly representing the program by leading information sessions, hosting recruitment events at Stanford alumni events and speaking publicly about the program.
Developing and implementing a recruitment strategy to build a strong and cohesive pipeline of coaches.
Serve as member of the Seed Transformation Network workgroup, a committee that brings together global and US based Seed staff to develop and implement the strategy for the Seed Transformation Network.
Including: Supporting committees for global & cross-regional events.
Researching and implementing new programs and initiatives that meet the needs of the members of the Seed Transformation Network.
This position may require international travel in the markets we operate in, and occasional work on nights and weekends for events.
To be successful in this position, you will bring: Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.
Demonstrated excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to set and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal, team and leadership skills; tact and flexibility in working with diverse populations.
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Comfort with technology and data management.
In addition, preferred requirements include: Five plus years of experience with managing volunteers, programs or projects.
Familiarity or demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, leadership development, mentoring or coaching.
International, cross-cultural, or global work experience.
Experience with Salesforce or demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly.
The expected pay range for this position is $64,480 - $100,000 per annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
