As a School Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing specialized healthcare services to students with mild to moderate or moderate to severe special needs.
This position requires a unique combination of medical expertise, teaching skills, and knowledge of special education to support the health and well-being of our students.
*Responsibilities:* * Provide specialized healthcare services to students with mild to moderate or moderate to severe special needs in accordance with established protocols, guidelines, and legal requirements.
* Conduct health assessments, screenings, and evaluations to identify and address specific health concerns related to students' special needs.
* Administer medications, treatments, and first aid tailored to individual student requirements.
* Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic illnesses or medical conditions within the special education context.
* Collaborate with special education teachers, related service providers, and parents to develop and implement comprehensive health support strategies.
* Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics relevant to students with special needs.
* Assist in the management of medical emergencies specific to students with special needs and coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
* Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students, ensuring compliance with state regulations and privacy laws.
* Participate in the development and implementation of school health policies and procedures for students with special needs.
* Stay updated on current healthcare practices, policies, and regulations relevant to special education settings.
*Qualifications:* * Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
* California Teaching Credential with authorization in Mild to Moderate or Moderate to Severe Special Needs.
* Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field (Master's degree preferred).
* Previous experience as a School Nurse or in a healthcare role within special education settings.
* Strong knowledge of pediatric and adolescent healthcare practices, particularly within the context of special needs.
* Familiarity with California state health and education regulations.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, parents, and staff.
* Proficient computer skills and experience with electronic health records systems.
* CPR and First Aid certifications.
_Rate is $85000 salary for 185 day school year .
