Position: Financial Aid Coordinator
Reports to: Director, Financial Aid
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt w/benefits
Work Location: On campus
Salary: $23 - $28 per hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Financial Aid Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, will assist all department staff.
This person performs various activities to administer federal, state, and institutional aid funds; package student aid; coordinate Pell Grants; meet with prospective and continuing students and their families; work with the Associate Director and Director of Financial Aid on community outreach; and serve on University committees as needed.
The position level will be commensurate with qualifications.
General Office/Customer Service
Meets with students and their families on campus for Pell and financial aid counseling
Attends NDNU special events such as open houses, information sessions, and accepted student days
Presents as needed on financial aid issues
Serve as liaison to the Offices of Admissions
Processing
Maintains excellent knowledge of both PowerFaids and Jenzabar student information systems
Create and update financial aid packages
Review students for SAP progress
To conduct qualifying interviews with students to determine the necessities of the application process.
To assist students in the timely completion of the FASFA on the Web.
To audit ISIRs for correct application information.
To complete timely verification on selected ISIRs.
To clear any "C" Comment Codes on all selected ISIRs.
Ensure that students awarded Federal Student Loan Funds have Entrance Counseling performed and documented.
Maintain student FA files in both hard copy and electronic formats according to policies.
Other
Attend financial aid conferences to stay current with best practices
Supports the Director and Associate Director of Financial Aid in other assigned areas including, but not limited to, Direct loans, alternative loans, Cal Grants, data support, community outreach; verifications, consortium agreements
Other duties as assigned by the Associate and the Director of Financial Aid
QUALIFICATIONS:
Some college preferred
At least three years of financial aid experience is required
Leadership skills
Excellent computer skills with knowledge of PowerFaids desired
Strong writing and oral communication skills
Detail-oriented with a strong sense of organization
Ability to comprehend complex Title IV legislation related to Pell Grants and other financial aid issues
Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
Team player with a positive attitude
