Day - 10 Hour (United States of America) A Brief Overview The primary responsibility of the Patient Administrative Specialist is to handle new patient coordination, surgery scheduling, and other front office functions in the outpatient clinical setting.
An Patient Administrative Specialist supports any and all administrative tasks related to the daily operations of the clinic.
What you will do Expertise of 2 or more of IV skills AND Lead or trainer for two of the three required skills.
EPIC Super user.
May include some Level IV duties, plus: Serves as in-house expert resource on registration in EMR clinic/clinical programs, registration, benefits, and authorization process.
Keeps IT logic current in systems when changes occur both internally and externally.
Assigns daily work schedules, adjusts work for coordinator staff.
Meets productivity standard set for this position 90% of the time.
Performs monthly Quarterly Reviews on sample registrations performed by staff to ensure accuracy.
Prepares monthly productivity report from data supplied by staff, and other ad-hoc reports as requested.
Reviews registration edit report, identifies, documents and reports registration problems to technical staff, and corrects database in a timely fashion.
Administers and evaluates competency exams of new staff and provides on the job training.
Participates in registration orientation for new staff.
In the absence of the Operations Manager, maintains operations of the unit.
Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Required Associates' or Bachelor's degree in health-related field from an accredited college or university is highly desirable, or a combination of education and demonstrated work experience in a directly related field Three to five (3-5) years directly related experience at SHC required with a preference for experience within the PAS career ladder, preferably PAS III or IV Prior or demonstrated lead or supervisory experience at SHC highly preferred Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Level IV KSAs, plus: Skilled in effective communications, customer service, problem solving, and managing multiple priorities.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of insurance eligibility, benefits, contract language, and medical terminology.
Ability to demonstrate supervisory skills Demonstrates knowledge of registration policies, FSC determinations and contract information.
Accurately utilizes EPIC insurance dictionaries to assign FSC.
Demonstrates acceptance of patient and family regardless of race, gender, disease process, life-style, sexual orientation, religious or cultural beliefs.
Ability to utilize appropriate manual and electronic systems.
