Authentic8 is looking for an experienced, well-rounded systems engineer with a background spanning the fields of networking, systems administration, technical operations, and project leadership.
This position will report to the Director, Security Architecture and Engineering and, as such, will involve technical leadership, development, and planning duties related to the roll-out of company-wide changes pertaining to compliance, governance, scalability, and security.
The Senior Systems Security Engineer will work closely with Authentic8’s DevOps and Engineering teams to understand existing system architecture and configurations and to build on these in order to develop implementation plans and lead the execution of system changes in accordance with corporate policy and security control requirements.
The Senior Security Systems engineer will also work with Authentic8 leadership personnel (e.
g.
, CTO, Head of Operations, VP Information Security, etc.
) to establish network standards, system standards, processes, and repeatable procedures.
Responsibilities: Maintains subject matter expertise and technical documentation re: the company’s system architecture, data flow, and points of interconnectivity with external entities Develops technical solutions regarding the augmentation of existing systems (development and production) and corporate network in accordance with high availability requirements, scalability efforts, and security controls Leads major technical implementation efforts pertaining to the company’s information assurance/government compliance program Drafts technical documents and acts as the subject matter expert regarding, but not limited to, technical architecture schematics, implementation plans, standard operating procedures, technical white papers, network standards, and system configuration standards Qualifications: 7+ years of experience designing, maintaining, and securing high availability networks and/or systems Bachelors* or advanced degree in a technical field, with special emphasis given to applicants with educational/practical experience in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, or engineering management*Note: This requirement can be substituted with 4 years of additional experience in a related field Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a natural propensity to lead, foster teamwork, and maintain strong relationships among contributors from diverse professional backgrounds (e.
g.
, engineering, security, operations, sales, marketing, finance, etc.
) Excellent technical writing skills, especially as might be applied to system documentation, descriptive white papers, policy documents, and standard operating procedures Strong sense of autonomy, motivation, and attention to detail Desired: Experience designing or maintaining distributed, heterogeneous environments (e.

, Ubuntu, Windows, Mac, etc.
) 2+ years of practical experience with formal project implementation, project coordination, or project management At least 1 year of practical experience or direct support pertaining to each of the following: networking, systems administration, and real-time network/systems monitoring and response Advanced knowledge of at least one coding/scripting language (e.

, Ruby, Python, Perl, etc.
) Industry certification(s) or commensurate knowledge in the following areas: System Administration, System Design, Security Architecture, Project Management, Network Design Working knowledge and/or experience implementing compliance with major security controls and frameworks (e.
