Saylor Consulting Group (SCG) has an opportunity for a Senior CAD Technician to work with our client, the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain) in the San Francisco Bay Area, likely in San Carlos, CA.
The Senior CAD Technician will provide technical support to the client's Engineering Department and other departments.
Support includes CAD services to District staff and consultants; management of the CAD Department's documents, files, supplies and equipment; and maintenance of the District's CAD Drafting Standards.
Daily Duties Provide Engineering with complete CAD support for a variety of capital projects.
This includes the production of engineering and architectural drawings, maps, exhibits and plots for use in planning, design, construction and maintenance.
3Provide support to other departments requiring CAD services.
Manage CAD Department documents and files for ease of retrieval and use.
Assist senior engineering staff in the maintenance and enforcement of the District's CAD Drafting Standards and the selection of software to enhance CAD production and capabilities.
Provide files, information and advice to staff and consultants as required.
Convert project construction drawings into project record drawings.
Manage the CAD Department's supplies budget.
Work cooperatively with client engineering staff, engineering consultants and outside government agencies on a variety of public transit projects.
Maintain and manage design and construction drawing sets in both digital and hard copy formats.
Create drawings and exhibits of all kinds as directed; generate plots upon request.
As needed, typically daily, file and manage CAD Department documents and files in compliance with the CAD Department's filing system.
Find, assemble, prepare and deliver files to staff and consultants upon request.
Create project record CAD files and drawings: Make project CAD files compliant with the District's CAD Drafting Standards.
Transfer information from the project record set, project RFI's, change orders, etc.
to project record CAD files.
Plot record drawings.
As needed, inventory CAD Department supplies.
Place and receive orders for supplies.
Perform all tasks in a safe manner to protect self, fellow employees and the public from harm.
Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in order to reduce or eliminate accidents.
Minimum Qualifications BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related degree.
In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted.
Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to an associate degree in one of the CAD, architectural or civil engineering discipline.
Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
Experience in transit, facilities management, civil and railroad engineering Knowledge of, and experience with, the latest versions of the Windows operating system and the latest versions of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroStation, Geographic Information Systems, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Photoshop or CorelDRAW, Auto ISP, Batch Files and VB.
NET is desirable.
Experience with modelling civil open road projects, and preparation of 3D rendering is preferred.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Ability to learn organization's software, programs, and processes in a timely manner.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and verbal instructions.
