Position Overview:
Provides assistance and care for patients and ensures that both psychiatric and physical needs of the patients are met.
Gathers and reports observational data, assists with daily living and monitors their conditions.
Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication.
Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: Monitors patients’ whereabouts at all times, and documents specific targeted behaviors during activities.
Maintain patient safety in the inpatient unit.
Assess the patient's vital signs Assist with patient's group therapy sessions Facilitates and ensures patient attendance at activities.
Observes, reports and documents physical complaints.
May be responsible for admitting, transferring, and discharging specific patients as assigned.
Orients new patients to the unit.
Provides direct patient care as assigned by licensed staff.
COMPLIANCE • Maintains strictest confidence in all patient-protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
• Performs care in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient privacy and care.
• Retains certification and completes mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies' accreditation and licensure requirements.
EDUCATION: Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of various mental health principles, views, and equipment used in the treatment of patients with varying disorders.
Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Demonstrates working knowledge of clinical diagnoses for the mental health population.
Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR).
Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
Assist patients with daily activities, including eating, bathing and movement.
