Long at Stanford (Department of Pathology and ChEM-H) the overarching goal is to understand the molecular pathways of metabolic homeostasis.
We use metabolomics and proteomics technologies as discovery tools.
We combine these tools with classical biochemical and genetic approaches in cell and animal models.
We engage in extensive collaborations with clinicians at Stanford and elsewhere.
Our goal is to uncover fundamental signaling pathways that control organismal energy metabolism.
About the Job We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our laboratory to understand the function of a hibernation inducible molecule in regulation of glucose homeostasis in hepatocytes.
Hibernation is a fascinating process where animals minimize metabolic rate without developing significant diseases or disorders.
We focus the molecules we recently discovered with untargeted metabolomics and are applying proteomics approaches to identify molecular targets of the molecule identified.
Specifically, we are applying genetic pharmacological approaches to understand the pathways it involves.
The finding will implement our understanding of the physiological processes happening in the hibernating animals and will provide novel insights into the glucose homeostasis in human.
