I need to get out of a housing situation that has recently gone badly and really need to find a new place that is affordable within my current means.
This is terrible timing, as I am admittedly unemployed and currently living off of my savings as I try to negotiate my way through applying for state disability until hopefully getting approved.
My disabilities are invisible to the human eye, as they are all internal and I frequently deal with bouts of anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
I have experienced homelessness in the past and do not want to go through that nightmare again; it is past my mental and physical capabilities.
I cannot afford to pay much more than $500-600 per month, if that.
I know that this does not make me sound like the ideal housemate candidate, but maybe someone reading this can understand and empathize with my plight as someone with considerable financial, physical, and mental difficulties and give me a chance? I'm a pretty quiet, low-key introverted human in my mid-40s who does not
drink or do any drugs aside from cannabis.
I have lived in the East Bay since the 1980s; I am as close to a native as one can get without actually being born here.
My gender identity is nonbinary; I am AMAB and prefer they/them pronouns.
I am a light tobacco smoker who prefers to keep it outdoors.
I've never "brought the party home" or caused damage to my living space.
I can't do any heavy lifting and often get worn out quickly from doing household chores, but I do clean up after myself and can handle criticism and accountability without taking it as a personal affront.
I generally spend my time reading, listening to music, or watching movies in my room and stay in my own lane.
I don't know how to drive, so I hope that I can find something affordable that is near public transit so I can get around easier and do things like make it to monthly doctor's appointments and such.
I'm searching within the areas within Oakland, Alameda, Emeryville, Berkeley, and Albany.
Please let me know if you have a living space that can accommodate me.
