What I'm looking for in a place:
* Firm on limiting my search to Berkeley/North Oakland
* Looking for shared houses with some kind of an outdoor space.
1-2 roommates would be ideal.
* I have a budget of 2k/month for rent + utilities, but I can go over it for the right place
* I work from home as a software developer and require good internet + privacy during the work day.
* Must be dog friendly: I've got a well behaved 1 year old hypoallergenic Bernedoodle I'm training to be a therapy dog.
He's great with other dogs, untested with cats (expected to be great), super friendly and quiet at home.
* Move in date flexible!
* Open to leases between 6-12 months.
What I'm looking for in a roommate (or 2):
* I have a preference for living with graduate students/young professionals roughly my age.
Gender/sexual orientation doesn't matter to me.
* The usual "don't be an asshole", "be clear about what you want/need/problems we're having".
I'll meet you in kind.
* I'd prefer that your relationship to marijuana is the occasional edible, because that's mine!
* Non-smoker
* Confident, independent people with a strong community orientation: have your own life, but enjoy sharing a meal or a living room every once in a while!
* The best roommate arrangement I had was one where my roommate felt comfortable throwing the odd dinner party for their friends.
I like to cook for a crowd, so being able to share that interest would be awesome!
About me:
* Mid 30s, male professional working in tech
* I have a master's in clinical psych that I don't use professionally.
Stereotypes you'ld put on a therapist probably apply to me.
* I tend to be awake between 6am and 11pm.
* It matters to me to enjoy being around the person(s) that I live with.
I'll respect your privacy, but I don't want to live with ghosts that I feel like I have to tip toe around.
* My friends describe me as responsible, kind, and quiet
* Most of my hobbies are solitary: I read, cook, play the piano, write, and spend a lot of daily time outside with my dog.
* I currently live in a 1BR in downtown Berkeley, but I'm looking to downsize to save $$$ same as everyone else.
For context, I'm making about 3.
8k/month in housing and that figure just needs to go down a lot to meet my financial goals.
If any of that feels interesting, drop me an email and let's find some time to explore a fit! I'd like to take the time to make sure that a roommate fit feels good given my flexible timeline, so people that are looking for the same will probably find more success.
