JOB ACCOUNTABILITY ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER STORE OPERATIONS Provides assistance to the Store Manager of Hot Topic.
In addition, acts in the capacity of the Store Manager in their absence in directing and leading the store to achieve the store objectives with regards to sales and profit, and team staffing,training, development and performance management.
Reports to Store Manager.
SALES AND SHRINK RESULTS ƒ Partners with Store Manager to ensure that the store achieves the sales plan and/or comp sales goals ƒAssists in managing store shrink within the Company guidelines and shrink goals.
STORE MANAGEMENT Leadership ƒDemonstrates the 5 Basic Management Skills ƒParticipates in creating a team environment which fosters loyalty ƒMaintains professionalism at all times ƒProvides clear and effective direction to staff in absence of Store Manager ƒAppropriately represents the store to the internal and external contacts ƒTakes responsibility for own performance and consistently meets commitments Customer Serviceƒ Sets the example using Selling Skills Steps and ensures that all employees are utilizing the skills ƒEnsures proper floor coverage and monitors the selling process ƒProvides a shopping experience that will encourage customers to return ƒUnderstands and meets or exceeds internaland external customer expectations ƒProvides music knowledge and information to employees and customers.
Drive for Results ƒ Pursues sales opportunities with a sense of urgency, anticipates and overcomes obstacles and follows through ƒIs knowledgeable of and can speak to the business ƒIdentifies and shares local/regional music knowledge with respective HQ partners.
ƒShares fashion trend information with respective HQ partners ƒStrives to understand how job contributes to overall team and business results Merchandise Presentation ƒDemonstrates good judgment and follow through in the implementation of Company visual standards ƒEnsures that store is merchandised using planogram as a guide ƒMaintains housekeeping standards ƒImplements all promotional guidelines in a timely manner Operations ƒUnderstands, complies and educates store team members on company policies and procedures ƒWorks closely with Store Manager to properly control supplies ƒMaintains all paperwork administration in an organized manner ƒPartners with Store Manager to ensure that the store achieves the sales plan and/or comp sales goals ƒComplies with, and educates staff on loss prevention policies and procedures, and assists in managing store shrink within Company guidelines and goals ƒManages cash over/short Teamwork, Staffing & Manpower Planning ƒ Supports Store Manager in identifying, recruiting, and proper staffing of the store ƒEnsures proper training and development of Sales Associates utilizing Company training resources ƒWorks and communicates well with others, regardless of position, to achieve best results ƒAssists Store Manager in ensuring store schedules are completed in a timely and effective manner ƒPartners with Store Manager to ensure store payroll hours are within budget Experience & Education ƒMinimum 6 months to 1 year of retail store management experience ƒKnowledge of music and fashion ƒMinimum of high school graduate or GED equivalent Competencies & Skills ƒDemonstrated excellent leadership, time management and customer service skills ƒExcellent verbal and written communication skills ƒCan do attitude and a team player ƒFlexible and adaptive to environment, changes, challenges, job duties and work schedules ƒInquisitiveness and open mind regarding teen culture/music trends Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)ƒ Able to stand and walk around during scheduled hours ƒAble to pack and unpack shipments, arrange and move store fixtures and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds ƒAble to reach for merchandise using the ladders, step stool, merchandise retrieving pole, shoe pole, etc.
ƒAble to use store equipment including cash registers, sensors, cutters, scissors, hand truck, etc.
