ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER
STORE OPERATIONS
Provides assistance to the Store Manager of Hot Topic.
In addition, acts in the capacity of the Store Manager in their absence in directing and leading the store to achieve the store objectives with regards to sales and profit, and team staffing,training, development and performance management.
Reports to Store Manager.
SALES AND SHRINK RESULTS
Partners with Store Manager to ensure that the store achieves the sales plan and/or comp sales goals Assists in managing store shrink within the Company guidelines and shrink goals.
STORE MANAGEMENT
Leadership
Demonstrates the 5 Basic Management Skills Participates in creating a team environment which fosters loyalty Maintains professionalism at all times Provides clear and effective direction to staff in absence of Store Manager Appropriately represents the store to the internal and external contacts Takes responsibility for own performance and consistently meets commitments
Customer Service
Sets the example using Selling Skills Steps and ensures that all employees are utilizing the skills Ensures proper floor coverage and monitors the selling process Provides a shopping experience that will encourage customers to return Understands and meets or exceeds internaland external customer expectations Provides music knowledge and information to employees and customers.
Drive for Results
Pursues sales opportunities with a sense of urgency, anticipates and overcomes obstacles and follows through Is knowledgeable of and can speak to the business Identifies and shares local/regional music knowledge with respective HQ partners.
Shares fashion trend information with respective HQ partners Strives to understand how job contributes to overall team and business results
Merchandise Presentation
Demonstrates good judgment and follow through in the implementation of Company visual standards Ensures that store is merchandised using planogram as a guide Maintains housekeeping standards Implements all promotional guidelines in a timely manner
Operations
Understands, complies and educates store team members on company policies and procedures Works closely with Store Manager to properly control supplies Maintains all paperwork administration in an organized manner Partners with Store Manager to ensure that the store achieves the sales plan and/or comp sales goals Complies with, and educates staff on loss prevention policies and procedures, and assists in managing store shrink within Company guidelines and goals Manages cash over/short
Teamwork, Staffing & Manpower Planning
Supports Store Manager in identifying, recruiting, and proper staffing of the store Ensures proper training and development of Sales Associates utilizing Company training resources Works and communicates well with others, regardless of position, to achieve best results Assists Store Manager in ensuring store schedules are completed in a timely and effective manner Partners with Store Manager to ensure store payroll hours are within budget
Experience & Education
Minimum 6 months to 1 year of retail store management experience Knowledge of music and fashion Minimum of high school graduate or GED equivalent

Demonstrated excellent leadership, time management and customer service skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Can do attitude and a team player Flexible and adaptive to environment, changes, challenges, job duties and work schedules Inquisitiveness and open mind regarding teen culture/music trends
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)
Able to stand and walk around during scheduled hours Able to pack and unpack shipments, arrange and move store fixtures and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds Able to reach for merchandise using the ladders, step stool, merchandise retrieving pole, shoe pole, etc.
Able to use store equipment including cash registers, sensors, cutters, scissors, hand truck, etc.
Able to remain calm and focused under pressure
