Shopper/Customer Experience: Provides strategic advice and guidance to Category Managers regarding online presence for categories with few complexities; Recommends enhancements based on industry and organizational knowledge and best practices.
Market Positioning and Analytics: Directs the analysis of key market and product positioning information for a category with few complexities and builds expertise across retailer/brand dynamics, shopper requirements, competitor site benchmarking, etc.
; Reviews and develops plans for category success based on analysis; Determines category assortment and strategy/market positioning across multiple websites and drives continuous improvement through strategic partnerships with retailers and brands; Advises on best way to optimize product sourcing mix.
Category Financials: Builds a data-driven strategic business plan with tangible execution steps for a category with few complexities; Develops and communicates budgets; Manages P&L for business area or category; Maintains overall responsibility for meeting financial targets (e.
g.
GMV and margin), and communicating (and ensuring the team executes upon) levers to achieve those targets.
Category Tracking/Monitoring: Provides guidance and strategic direction regarding tracking and monitoring performance for a category with few complexities based on broad industry and organizational knowledge; Maintains overall accountability for category performance across multiple sites.
Strategic Visioning: Develops comprehensive strategy for a category with few complexities to drive growth of the business or category; Translates vision and strategy into action to motivate and inspire own team (including Category Managers) to drive key levers impacting category excellence.
Business Relationships: Manages relationships with key strategic suppliers for a category with few complexities; Negotiates product volumes, costs, and terms with vendors for a category with few complexities; Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key initiatives; Engages key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; supports associate efforts in these areas.
Collaboration: Collaborates with product teams to establish the site as a best-in-class leader within its product categories for a category with few complexities; Partners with merchants to determine how to expand category through existing vendor relationships; Coordinates with brick and mortar store representatives and merchants who own Walmart US relationship for products in a category with few complexities to drive sales and margin growth through the omni-channel.
People Development: Ensures associates are receiving learning and development opportunities (e.
g.
training, mentoring) for the good of the associate and Walmart; Coaches team members and provides feedback to enhance skills, knowledge and work performance; Mentors Category Managers and less experienced associates.
