Position Summary About The Walmart Marketplace Data Science and Enablement Team Walmart's Marketplace Data Science and Enablement Team supports the growth of the e-Commerce Marketplace program through data analysis, advanced statistics, and data best-practices for advanced modeling techniques for forecasting and problem solving.
We work alongside business, product, and engineering teams to deliver solutions that enable growth and improve seller success.
What you'll do.

The Director of Data Science will help manage areas of data science critical to our business' aggressive growth.
You will directly manage a US-based team while collaborating with and coordinating across a larger international team supporting a diverse portfolio of business initiatives.
You will be an advisor on designing, refining, and delivering modeling best practices for a range of topics including, but not limited to sales forecasting, risk mitigation, seller experience, forecasting, and performance optimization.
How You'll Make an Impact Lead and develop a team of data scientists with indirect oversight of a portfolio spanning the entire Marketplace organization.
Develop and manage machine learning/ data science models that address challenges and opportunities in assortment and performance optimization, risk mitigation, seller experience, and operational efficiency.
Ensure close collaboration with business partners to define priorities and ensure that solutions are implemented and adopted.
Build key measurements and a test/iterate philoso phy to improve results.
Challenge accepted approaches and develop innovative solutions that enable explosive growth across the Global Marketplace.
What you'll bring : Expertise in Data Science with prior hands-on experience building predictive and classification models and owning end to end is strongly preferred.
Ability to translate business problems into data-related or mathematical solutions.
Adept at dealing with ambiguity and making independent decisions about what data and approach is best for the task at hand.
Excellent at communicating with individuals and groups at all levels of an organization.
Strong business insight, superb communication, and relationship skills 6 - 8 years of supervisory experience.
