The San Mateo County Event Center is a public assembly facility which hosts a wide variety of events and produces the San Mateo County Fair, and operates the Jockey Club and a satellite wagering facility for horseracing.

Job Summary The Admissions Cashier is responsible for the sale of admissions and programs in the Jockey Club.
Two positions are available: One Full-Time position: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9:00 am – 7:30 pm One Part-Time position: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9:00 am – 3:30 pm Essential Functions/Responsibilities Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following: Prepare/log on to the admission register.
Prepare/log on to Cal Racing scan computer.
Accept admission fees from patrons and sell racing programs, bring in and count Programs and other Reconcile sales and inventory with Racing Supervisor or Asst.
Supervisor.
Count and recycle programs turned back in by patrons.
Confirm that patrons receiving CHRB comps (free General Admission) have valid licenses.
Confirm that patrons receiving free General Admission have proper credentials.
Maintain daily log of Credential admissions.
Provide backup relief for Audio/Video Signal monitors.
Maintain a high degree of customer service for patrons, including directing patrons to appropriate areas of the facility and reminding patrons of any safety protocols.
Maintain cleanliness of the respective area.
Report any unsafe condition to management.
Stamp hands for return customers.
Provide relief for other employees as needed.
Confirm delivery of programs and publications.
Track sales to the public of programs, forms, racing selection sheets, and pens.
Count and balance daily sales and submit reports and cash to the facility manager.
Provide programs for Mutuels and other comps as needed.
Return unsold publications to the delivery shack for pick-up by delivery personnel.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to use basic Mathematics.
Cash handling and balancing capability.
Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to write basic reports on incidents observed while on duty.
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with management, co-workers, clients, and customers using principles of good customer service.
Requires being responsible, reliable, and dependable to fulfill job obligations.
A willingness to adhere to the employee handbook rules, and all safety procedures.
Must work weekends, sometimes Mondays and Holidays, long and irregular hours based on business needs.
Minimum Requirements Any combination of education, experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the responsibilities of this position.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must obtain California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) license within 90 days of employment.
